Depression is a highly prevalent mood disorder which impairs a person’s social skills and quality of life, and affects their ability to recognise and express emotions. Here, we describe the first study to investigate how depression affects expression of emotions perceived in music through spontaneous, expressive body movement. Central to this study is the use of a Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) intervention. Measurement of θ13 in Double Chooz using neutron captures on hydrogen with novel background rejection techniques

The Double Chooz collaboration presents a measurement of the neutrino mixing angle θ[subscript 13] using reactor [bar over ν[subscript e]] observed via the inverse beta decay reaction in which the neutron is captured on hydrogen. This measurement is based on 462.72 live days data, approximately twice as much data as in the previous such analysis, collected with a detector positioned at an average distance of 1050 m from two reactor cores. Several novel techniques have been developed to achieve significant reductions of the backgrounds and systematic uncertainties. Chip for dielectrophoretic microbial capture, separation and detection I: theoretical basis of electrode design

Abstract We model the dielectrophoretic response of E. coli bacterial cells and red blood cells, upon exposure to an electric field. We model the separation, capture, and release mechanisms under flow conditions in a microfluidic channel and show under which conditions efficient separation of different cell types occurs. The modelling work is aimed to guide the separation electrode architecture and design for experimental validation of the model. The dielectrophoretic force is affected both by the geometry of the electrodes (the gradient of the electric field), the Re{CM(ω)} factor, and the permittivity of the medium ϵm. Interpersonal coordination within a dyadic musical performance requires that the two musicians share a similar mental model of the music’s timing structure. Ordinary muon capture studies for the matrix elements in ββ decay

High-purity germanium (HPGe) detectors were used to make a precise measurement of the γ-ray spectrum produced following ordinary (nonradiative) capture of negative muons by natural Se, Kr, Cd, and Sm. The measurement was repeated for isotopically enriched 48Ti, 76Se, 82Kr, 106Cd, and 150Smtargets. By investigating energy and time distributions, the lifetime of negative muons in the different isotopes was deduced. A detailed analysis of the intensity of the γ lines enabled the extraction of the relative yields of several daughter nuclei. Comparative analysis of muon-capture and 0νββ-decay matrix elements

Average matrix elements of ordinary muon capture (OMC) to the intermediate nuclei of neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decays of current experimental interest are computed and compared with the corresponding energy and multipole decompositions of 0νββ-decay nuclear matrix elements (NMEs). The present OMC computations are performed using the Morita-Fujii formalism by extending the original formalism beyond the leading order. The 0νββ NMEs include the appropriate short-range correlations, nuclear form factors, and higher-order nucleonic weak currents.
