Acylchalcogenourea Complexes of Silver(I)
2016
Acylthio- or acylselenoureas react with silver(I) oxide to form tetranuclear silver(I) complexes containing the deprotonated acylchalcogenourea ligands bound to the silver atoms through the chalcogen and oxygen atoms. These tetrasilver(I) species react with either 4 or 8 equiv. of a phosphine to afford either dinuclear silver(I) phosphine complexes or tetrahedral silver diphosphine complexes. In these compounds, the acylchalcogenourea ligands form six-membered rings by coordinating to the metal atom through the chalcogen and oxygen atoms. In one case, we observed a very rare example of an acylthiourea ligand coordinated through the nitrogen and sulfur atoms to form a four-membered ring. A s…
Structure and properties of a novel staircase-like decanuclear [CuII10] cluster supported by carbonate and carboxylate bridges
2018
This article describes a novel staircase-like decanuclear copper(II) cluster [CuII10(cpdp)4(CO3)4(CH3OH)2]·3.33CH3OH·7.83H2O (1) (H3cpdp = N,N′-bis[2-carboxybenzomethyl]-N,N′-bis[2-pyridylmethyl]-1,3-diaminopropan-2-ol) composed of a pair of [CuII5] pentamers. In methanol, the reaction of H3cpdp with Cu(NO3)2·3H2O in the presence of K2CO3 leads to the isolation of complex 1. This complex has been characterized by various analytical techniques including single crystal X-ray crystallography. Structural analysis reveals that the two [CuII5] pentameric units are bridged together exclusively by two μ2:η2:η1 carbonate groups. Complex 1 shows a rare μ3:η2:η1:η1 bridging coordination mode of four b…
Zinc(ii), cobalt(ii) and manganese(ii) networks with phosphoserine ligand: synthesis, crystal structures and magnetic and proton conductivity propert…
2017
A series of zinc(II), cobalt(II) and manganese(II) coordination networks with phosphoserine ligand (H3PSer) are synthesized and characterized. Whereas in compounds 1 and 2 with the general formula [M(HPser)]n [M = Zn (1) and Co (2)], the metal(II) ion presents a tetrahedral geometry, in [Co(HPSer)(H2O)2]n (3) and [Mn(HPSer)(H2O)]n (4), the metal(II) ions are in a distorted octahedral geometry. The 3D frameworks are formed by inorganic layers built up from MO4 or MO6 polyhedra and phosphate groups. These layers are linked by the carboxylate groups of the phosphoserine ligand. The presence of extended hydrogen bonding stabilizes the 3D network and favours the proton transfer leading to modera…
Higher MLCT lifetime of carbene iron(ii) complexes by chelate ring expansion
2021
Combining strong σ-donating N-heterocyclic carbene ligands and π-accepting pyridine ligands with a high octahedricity in rigid iron(ii) complexes increases the 3MLCT lifetime from 0.15 ps in the prototypical [Fe(tpy)2]2+ complex to 9.2 ps in [Fe(dpmi)2]2+12+. The tripodal CNN ligand dpmi (di(pyridine-2-yl)(3-methylimidazol-2-yl)methane) forms six-membered chelate rings with the iron(ii) centre leading to close to 90° bite angles and enhanced iron-ligand orbital overlap.
A P-chirogenic β-aminophosphine synthesis by diastereoselective reaction of the α-metallated PAMP–borane complex with benzaldimine
2004
International audience; The diastereoselective synthesis of a P-chirogenic β-aminophosphine ligand with carbon–carbon bond formation of the ethano bridge in a 3:1 ratio via reaction of an α-metallated P-chirogenic phosphine borane with a benzaldimine is described. The diastereoselectivity is attributed to a transition state where the lithium cation chelates the phosphine borane carbanion and the nitrogen of the imine and the attack of the C@N occurs on the face opposite to the P–B bond, due to its interaction with the antibonding P–B bond. The major diastereoisomeric β-aminophosphine borane was then separated and decomplexed into the corresponding β-aminophosphine under neutral conditions a…
Titanocene–gold complexes containing N-heterocyclic carbene ligands inhibit growth of prostate, renal, and colon cancers in vitro
2016
We report on the synthesis, characterization, and stability studies of new titanocene complexes containing a methyl group and a carboxylate ligand (mba = −OC(O)-p-C6H4-S−) bound to gold(I)−N-heterocyclic carbene fragments through the thiolate group: [(η5 -C5H5)2TiMe(μ-mba)Au(NHC)]. The cytotoxicities of the heterometallic compounds along with those of novel monometallic gold−N-heterocyclic carbene precursors [(NHC)Au(mbaH)] have been evaluated against renal, prostate, colon, and breast cancer cell lines. The highest activity and selectivity and a synergistic effect of the resulting heterometallic species was found for the prostate and colon cancer cell lines. The colocalization of both tita…
Recent studies on RR′S·C2B9H11 charge-compensated ligands
2002
Abstract In this paper we report the synthesis of three new carborane derivatives of the series 7,8-R,R′-10-L-7,8-C2B9H9 (R=R′=H, L=SEtPh; R=CH3, R′=H, L=SMe2 and L=SEt2) along with the enhanced characterization of formerly described compounds 7,8-R,R′-10-L-7,8-C2B9H9 (R=R′=H, L=SMe2 (1), L=SEt2 (2) and L=S(CH2)4 (3)). They have been fully characterised using 1H-, 11B- and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. Their bridging proton resonances have been located for the first time. Individual sulfonium substituent contributions have been calculated that have permitted to establish a rule to predict its position in the 1H-NMR spectrum. The crystal structures of 1 and 3 have been resolved for the first time. T…
Solvent effects on the dimensionality of oxamato-bridged manganese(II) compounds
2018
Two new oxamate-containing manganese(II) complexes, [{Mn(H2edpba)(H2O)2}2]n (1) and [Mn(H2edpba)(dmso)2]∙dmso∙CH3COCH3∙H2O (2) (H4edpba = N,N′-ethylenediphenylenebis(oxamic acid) and dmso = dimethylsulfoxide), have been synthesized and the structures of 1 and 2 were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of 1 consists of neutral honeycomb networks in which each manganese(II) is six-coordinate by one H2edpba2− ligand and two carboxylate–oxygens from two other H2edpba2− ligands building the equatorial plane. Each manganese is connected to its nearest neighbor through two carboxylate(monoprotonated oxamate) bridges in an anti-syn conformation. A dmso solution of singl…
Triazole vs. triazolium carbene ligands in the site-selective cyclometallation of o-carboranes by M(iii) (M = Ir, Rh) complexes
2018
Ir(iii) and Rh(iii)-mediated site-selective cage B-H and C-H bond activation in o-carboranylmethyl derivatives has been achieved. The selectivity of the reaction is related to the electron donating properties of the ligand. 1,2,3-Triazole-derivatives use the N2 position of the triazole ring to direct the selective o-carborane B-H bond activation, whereas the corresponding triazolylidene derivatives lead to the cage C-H bond activation with complete site-selectivity.
A carboxylate-bridged NiII8 cluster with a distorted cubane topology: structure, magnetism and density functional studies
2016
Using a dicarboxylate ligand appended with (2-pyridyl)ethylamine unit, a new cluster [NiII8(L4)6(DMF)2(CH3OH)2(H2O)6][ClO4]4·2CH3OH·2CH3CO2C2H5 (1) [L4(2−): 3-[N-{2-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl}amino]-bis(propionate)] has been synthesized, through ‘coordination-driven self-assembly’. The crystal structure of 1 reveals a centrosymmetric octanuclear carboxylate-bridged nickel(II) tetracation, with a distorted cubane topology. The four crystallographically independent nickel(II) centres differ markedly in their coordination environment. Magnetic studies (2–300 K) reveal that in 1 the net magnetic-exchange is antiferromagnetic. Based on geometric parameters associated with two interacting nickel(II) cen…
