Burnout syndrome assessment among Spanish oral surgery consultants: A two populations comparative pilot study.
2021
Background The professional Burnout Syndrome (BOS) or Burnout is considered a professional disease made up of three interrelated dimensions (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and lack of personal fulfillment). BOS has been documented to most severely affect the healthcare professions, especially dentists. On the other hand, its appearance has been documented at an early age, during dental training. However, there are no studies that analyze its incidence in professionals dedicated to Oral Surgery and Implantology, determining the age of onset and related factors. Material and Methods The modified Maslach questionnaire was carried out anonymously among the professors and students of th…
Extramedullary hematopoiesis within endothelial papillary hyperplasia (Masson?s pseudoangiosarcoma) of the tongue
2007
We report the unique association of Masson?s pseudoangiosarcoma (endothelial papillary hyperplasia) and extramedullary hematopoiesis. The lesion was present as a violaceous nodule on the side of the tongue of a 78-year-old man with history of multiple myeloma and long-standing mild anemia. This association between a peculiar form of thrombus organization and extramedullary hematopoiesis has been reported previously only once, in an infant with a cranial hematoma, and raises interesting pathogenetic questions.
Fruition and valorisation of disused manufacturing settlements: the "tonnare" of the Gulf of Castellammare case-studies. The Gulf of Castellammare: s…
2013
The issue about enhancement, fruition and management of manufacturing settlements, obsolete in relation with technological developments is not new and stands still at the centre of a heated debate, full of causes for reflection. Buildings assigned to fishing, processing and conservation of tuna (called tonnare) are emblematic. Process of decay involved Castellammare territory, in Sicily, wich is characterized by the presence of many artefacts.
Tonsillolith : a report of three clinical cases
2007
Tonsillolith is a rare dystrophic calcification as a result of chronic inflammation of the tonsils. Three asymptomatic cases of tonsillolith are reported, incidentally discovered through panoramic radiographs, which showed different sizes of radiopaque images, varying from 2 to 5mm; cases I and III images did not overlap the mandible ramus, which led to a probable diagnosis of soft tissue calcification. Case II had radiopaque unilateral images, with osseous tissue density, overlapping the mandibular ramus, leading to a benign intra-osseous lesion, which was considered as differential diagnosis. No symptoms were reported in any case. Only case I had clinical characteristics, showing highly c…
Tonētu lēcu ietekme uz šaušanas precizitāti
2019

Evaluation of the different exposure parameters for the accurate diagnosis of peri-implantitis severity in digital panoramic radiography.
2022
To evaluate the accuracy of the diagnosis of peri-implant bone defects? severities in digital panoramic radiographs obtained at different tube voltage and/or tube current settings. Two different sizes of peri-implant bone defects (type 1 and type 2) were prepared after the implants were inserted into 29 bovine rib blocks. Digital panoramic radiographs were obtained at eight different tube voltage and/or tube current settings for all rib blocks. Implant images were cropped separately. The average intensity value (AIV) of cropped images were analyzed using Adobe Photoshop CC software. The Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to compare AIVs. All cropped images were evaluated using a five-point Like…
