Offerings for the gate: a ritual deposit at the West Gate of la Bastida de les Alcusses (Moixent, Valencia)

En este trabajo se dan a conocer los resultados de las excavaciones llevadas a cabo en la Puerta Oeste de a Bastida de les Alcusses entre los años 2010 y 2011. Asociado a una renovación de las estructuras de la entrada y la muralla, se documentó un depósito de varios centenares de objetos incluyendo herrajes, maderas, armas, cerámica, semillas, frutos, fauna y restos constructivos. Presentamos el estudio multidisciplinar de todos los materiales y las varias líneas de interpretación que nos sugiere este extraordinario contexto.

Presentamos en estas páginas once nuevas inscripciones romanas sobre diversos soportes, que han aparecido en la última década en diferentes excavaciones en localidades próximas a Valencia y en la propia ciudad, todas ellas dentro del territorium de la antigua Valentia. This article presents eleven new Roman inscriptions on various supports that were found in the last decade in different excavations in locations situated in the vicinity of Valencia and in the city itself, all of them within the territorium of the ancient city of Valentia.

Theories about the emergence and spread of farming in western Eurasia have a long research history. Occasionally, climate fluctuations have served as explanations for short-term culture change. However, the entire Holocene climate fluctuation sequence has so far not been regarded. First steps towards a theory which combines the successive stages in Neolithization and early to Mid-Holocene climate fluctuations are described.
Carp’s-tongue swords - morphological, metallurgical and cultural aspects

This contribution discusses the results from a study of the spatial distribution of different morphological sub-groups of carp’s-tongue swords at a European scale, relating morphological types to the metallurgial make-up of the respective pieces. From this study some surprising conclusions concerning the chronological as well as the spatial dimension of the evolution of carp’s-tongue swords emerge. We also look at the degree of variability in the deposition of these artefacts and in the composition of the assemblages in question, with considerable repercussions for our understanding of the depositional contexts of metal objects in the Atlantic Bronze Age world in general.

The potentially long and interesting archaeological sequence revealed by systematic survey at the site of Alt Del Punxó (Muro de l’Alcoi, Alacant) was the basis for initiating a study of the locality’s subsurface structures using new methods of remote sensing. Geophysical survey (magnetometry and tomography) and systematic augering revealed buried structures, including monumental earthworks, and guided subsequent excavations to collect more detailed data about the nature and age of these prehistoric features. This article aims to give an idea of the Italic mosaic production in Sardinia, determining which mosaics are actually made by Italic artists, or by them inspired. Although the mosaic heritage of Sardinia is large, there are only five cases in which we can assert that we are in front of an Italic skill, and only in two towns: Cagliari and Porto Torres. Unfortunately there are no stratigraphic data for these mosaics, since they were recovered by accident or following excavations made improperly, they can be dated only thanks to stylistic comparisons.

Este artículo trata sobre el análisis arqueométrico de un hacha de jadeíta depositada en el Museo do Clube da Sertã, en la villa de Sertã (distrito de Castelo Branco, Portugal).
