The Role of APC/C-Cdh1 in Alzheimer's disease

2016

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia among elderly individuals above 65 years. Estimations suggest that there are currently about 47.5 million people worldwide suffering from dementia, of which 60-70% are AD cases (World Health Organization, 2015). It is an irreversible disease of progressive nature, which leads to deterioration in cognitive functions beyond what is normal in a healthy aging process. Among the affected cognitive functions are memory, thinking skills and orientation. AD is one of the major causes of disability among older people and has a big impact on socio-economical capacities. There is currently no treatment to cure AD and it is a very active fie…

Practical design rules for single-channel ultra high-speed dense dispersion management telecommunication systems

2009

International audience; In this work, we establish some efficient and practical design rules for the implementation of single-channel ultra-high speed (>160-Gbit/s) telecommunication systems based on dense dispersion management. Moreover, we analyze some of actual implementation issues such as slope compensation scenario, junction losses, polarization mode dispersion and chromatic dispersion fluctuations.

A new method to "clean up" ultra high-frequency data

2007

In the applied econometrics, the availability of ultra high-frequency databases is having an important impact on the research market microstructure theory. The ultra high-frequency databases contain detailed reports of all the financial market activity information which is available. However, ultra high-frequency databases cannot be directly used. On one hand recording mistakes can be present, on the other hand missing information has to be inferred from the available data. In this paper, we propose a simple method in order to clean up the ultra high-frequency data from possible errors and we examine the method efficacy when we analyze data by using an autoregressive conditional duration (A…

Conocimiento pedagógico del contenido para la enseñanza del tema mitosis: un estudio de casos con docentes universitarios de Argentina

2015

The pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) for teaching mitosis at university isan unexplored field. We report the characterization of university teachers’ PCK on mitosisemploying the Content Representation questionnaire (CoRe) and Professional and Pedagogicalexperience Repertoire (PaP-eR). The differences found in the teachers’ CDC are consistent withthe characteristics of this construct: it is specific to a topic, a teacher and a context. The PCKdevelopment of university teachers in the context of teaching centered on the transmissionof knowledge emerges as a possible strategy to reorient the teaching of mitosis to approachesbased on the construction of scaffoldings that facilitate student l…

At the centre of The Bologna process: do European Universities train their students to face knowledge-based societies?

2006

Modification of antigen-encoding RNA increases stability, translational efficacy, and T-cell stimulatory capacity of dendritic cells.

2006

AbstractAdoptive transfer of dendritic cells (DCs) transfected with in vitro–transcribed, RNA-encoding, tumor-associated antigens has recently entered clinical testing as a promising approach for cancer immunotherapy. However, pharmacokinetic exploration of RNA as a potential drug compound and a key aspect of clinical development is still pending. While investigating the impact of different structural modifications of RNA molecules on the kinetics of the encoded protein in DCs, we identified components located 3′ of the coding region that contributed to a higher transcript stability and translational efficiency. With the use of quantitative reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (R…
