Heuristic Solutions for a Class of Stochastic Uncapacitated p-Hub Median Problems
2019
In this work, we propose a heuristic procedure for a stochastic version of the uncapacitated r-allocation p-hub median problem with nonstop services. In particular, we assume that the number of hubs to which a terminal can be allocated is bounded from above by r. Additionally, we consider the possibility of shipping traffic directly between terminals (nonstop services). Uncertainty is associated with the traffic to be shipped between nodes and with the transportation costs. If we assume that such uncertainty can be captured by a finite set of scenarios, each of which with a probability known in advance, it is possible to develop a compact formulation for the deterministic equivalent proble…
Reflexiones doctrinales en torno a las Clementinas Dispendiosam y Saepe contingit: El proceso sumario a la luz del utriusque iuris
2016
Summary procedure, resulting of extensive synergistic work carried out by the medieval legislators of both Laws, was an alternative process to the solemn, more agile and faster. The Saepe Contingit constitution represents the paradigm that will reach its full scholarly maturation on the Bartolus de Sassoferrato’s study about the Constitution Ad Reprimendum. The article briefly explores the steps that lead to the appearance of the summary Rite on the medieval Ius Commune, highlighting the role of Canon law, and in particular the legislative interventions of Pope Clement V, in the making of this process, from the decretals Dispendiosam and Saepe Contingit up to the mentioned Bartolus’s study,…

The use of Endurant stent-graft for abdominal aortic aneurysm: the story about extension of instruction for use with persistent good results of stent…
2012
The Endurant stent-graft (Medtronic, Inc., Minneapolis, MN, USA) is a latest generation device for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm. The idea behind designing such a graft came from the intention to broad the instruction for use (IFU) and to enable it to treat more challenging anatomy including the 10mm neck lengths, and more severe suprarenal and infrarenal angulations. Endurant stent-graft has active fixation through suprarenal stent with anchoring pins to provide migration resistance, optimized heights of stents and spacing between them for improved flexibility and conformability, low-profile delivery system with hydrophilic coating and controlled simple deployment mechanism. S…
The prognostic value of skeletal muscle index on clinical and survival outcomes after cytoreduction and HIPEC for peritoneal metastases from colorect…
2021
BACKGROUND Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hypertermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) represent the most effective strategy to manage peritoneal metastases (PM). This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the impact of body composition on clinical outcomes in patients with PM. METHODS A systematic literature search was performed using Medline, Web of Science and EMBASE databases from inception to the 20st August 2020. Data were independently extracted by 3 authors. Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to assess quality and risk of bias of studies. Pooled analyses were performed using Mantel-Haenszel method to estimate overall effect size with mean differences or odd ratios (O…
Maximum weight relaxed cliques and Russian Doll Search revisited
2015
Trukhanov et al. [Trukhanov S, Balasubramaniam C, Balasundaram B, Butenko S (2013) Algorithms for detecting optimal hereditary structures in graphs, with application to clique relaxations. Comp. Opt. and Appl., 56(1), 113–130] used the Russian Doll Search (RDS) principle to effectively find maximum hereditary structures in graphs. Prominent examples of such hereditary structures are cliques and some clique relaxations intensely discussed and studied in network analysis. The effectiveness of the tailored RDS by Trukhanov et al. for s-plex and s-defective clique can be attributed to their cleverly designed incremental verification procedures used to distinguish feasible from infeasible struct…
