THE IMPACT OF RE-TUR ON CLINICAL OUTCOMES IN A LARGE COHORT OF T1G3 PATIENTS TREATED WITH BCG.

CHOICE OF ADJUVANT INTRAVESICAL THERAPY IN RECURRING INTERMEDIATE-RISK NMI-BC
2011
Objective: The therapeutic strategy for patients affected by intermediate risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) recurring after intravesical therapy is not definitively established. Only few studies have been published on secondline intravesical therapy. BCG is advocated when intravesical chemotherapy fails and is often repeated. On the other hand, some patients that suffer recurrence repeat intravesical chemotherapy. A retrospective analysis of 179 intermediaterisk patients submitted to second-line intravesical therapy is reported. Patients and Methods: The clinical files of patients affected by intermediate risk NMI-BC and submitted to second-line adjuvant intravesical therapy w…
THE IMPACT OF RE-TUR ON CLINICAL OUTCOMES IN A LARGE COHORT OF T1G3 PATIENTS TREATED WITH BCG.
2014
Scopo del lavoro Re-TUR is strongly advocated for T1G3, because of the high incidence residual disease and mainly the risk of substaging. Its real clinical value remains to be determined and the clinical factors that may influence the decision. Some authors suggest that when muscle is present in the specimen, re-TUR may be avoided. To evaluate if the presence of muscle or not at the first TUR in T1G3 bladder cancer makes a difference in recurrence, progression and cancer specific survival after re-TUR. Materiali e metodi In a large retrospective cohort of 2530 primary T1G3 initially treated with BCG, 953 (37.7%) had a re-TUR. According to the presence or not of muscle in the specimen of pri…
A prospective observational study on oral administration of Ellagic Acid and Annona Muricata in patients affected by non-muscle invasive bladder canc…
2021
Introduction: BCG and MMC shortage and Covid-19 pandemic, more recently, limit accessibility to maintenance regimen in intravesical prophylaxis against recurrence of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Ellagic acid (EA) and Annona muricata (AM) exert antitumor activity against different human tumours. An observational prospective study on the prophylactic effect of oral administration of EA+AM in patients avoiding maintenance regimen is presented. Materials and methods: Patients affected by NMIBC and not undergoing maintenance after a 6-week course of intravesical prophylaxis with MMC or BCG were entered. Tis and very high-risk tumours were excluded. After informed consent, the pati…
A portable system for multiple parameters monitoring: towards assessment of health conditions and stress level in the automotive field
2019
In this work, an electronic portable combo system able to synchronously acquire multiple signals, e.g. electrocardiographic (ECG), photoplethysmographic (PPG) and breathing waveforms, is presented. The realized system is also capable of showing in real time some physiological parameters which can be used for assessing health/stress status of the volunteer, such as heart rate and breathing frequency and their trends over time. Thanks to the use of non-invasive PPG probes, of batteries as power supply, and to the possibility to add in the future additional sensors to acquire other signals, the system could also be employed inside vehicles for assessing the status of the driver. Finally, the r…
CAROLS campaigns 2009: First Results
2010
International audience; The CAROLS, L band radiometer, is built and designed as a copy of EMIRAD II radiometer of DTU team. It is a Correlation radiometer with direct sampling and fully polarimetric (i.e 4 Stockes). It will be used in conjunction with other airborne instruments (in particular the C-Band scatterometer (STORM) and IEEEC GPS system, Infrared CIMEL radiometer and one visible camera), in coordination with in situ field campaigns for SMOS CAL/VAL. The instruments are implemented on board the French research airplane ATR42. A scientific campaign with thirteen flights is realized over south-western France, Valencia site and Bay of Biscay (Atlantic Ocean) in spring 2009. In order to…

Erenumab and Possible CGRP Effect on Chronotype in Chronic Migraine: A Real-Life Study of 12 Months Treatment
2023
The introduction of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) directed against the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), or its receptor (CGRPr), revolutionized migraine management due to their high efficacy and few side effects. Data suggest that the CGRP may even be implicated in circadian rhythm, but studies about the effect of anti-CGRP treatments on sleep are still lacking. The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of erenumab (70 and 140 mg per month), a human mAb directed against CGRPr, on chronotype in chronic migraineurs; secondly, we assessed its efficacy, safety, and the effects on anxiety and depression. Sleep was evaluated using self-administrable questionnaires investigating …
Le changement climatique : où en sommes-nous ?
2018
Greenhouse gases (GHGs), naturally part of the atmosphere, have protected us from severe glaciations in the past. Today, human activities increase GHG concentrations and cause rapid and unprecedented Earth warming. Climate change is not resume only to warming, water cycle is also changed. All the research confirms: the climate is changing fast, too fast for ecosystems and societies to adapt. Despite the alerts of the international scientific community, States gathered into Conferences of the Parties (COP) ratify agreements but do not comply with all their commitments. Public opinion polls indicate that climate change is perceived as a risk, but jobs and taxes override environmental concerns…
Discordances entre mémoire et histoire. Un exemple : le congrès d'Amiens (1906)
2012
Memory and history are sometimes a strange couple. A striking illustration is given by the French Unionism in the twentieth century. Some events - 1906, 1920, 1936, 1947, 1968 ... - are engraved in the "memories" and they have founded a collective identity. However, taking the example of the CGT Congress of Amiens in 1906, several dimensions - a priori essential - of this "memory" can be discussed: the importance of the strike, the relationship between parties and unions, the historical weakness of the French unionism. Historical data are not consistent with these representations usually carried about French unionism before 1914. One can wonder : would not it be the same discordance about t…
