Taxonomic investigations on Psoralea palaestina (Fabaceae), a critical species of Mediterranean flora

2016

Psoralea palaestina is a critical and unappreciated species described from Palestinian territories, and currently treated as synonym of P. bituminosa, nowadays known as Bituminaria bituminosa. Nomenclatural investigations allowed to ascertain that it was validly described for the first time by Bassi (1768) and not by Gouan (1773), as previously thought. Extensive taxonomic investigations revealed that this very peculiar legume is morphologically well differentiated from the other allied known species. Therefore, it has to be properly treated at specific level and transferred to the genus Bituminaria, thus proposing a new combination: Bituminaria palaestina. Based on literature, herbarium an…

New populations of the threatened fern Equisetum moorei Newman in the Valencian Community (Spain)

2020

M.B. Crespo, Camuñas & J.C. Cristóbal, y N. mallophora subsp. anticaria (Ladero & Rivas Goday ex Ubera & Valdés) M.B. Crespo, Camuñas & J.C. Cristóbal. Data are reported on distribution and ecology of new or poorly known taxa of Alicante province (E of Spain). Nine species are cited for the first time in that territory, being three of them also new f…

New national and regional plant records: Contribution to the flora of the Old World countries

2023

is paper presents new data on the occurrence of 16 vascular plant species from five Eurasian countries obtained during field explorations, as well as during taxonomic revisions of herbarium materials. Five taxa (Draba fladnizensis, Gentiana orbicularis, Helianthus giganteus, Symphyotrichum cordifolium, alictrum alpinum) are recorded for the first time from Poland, five (Achnatherum jacquemontii, Arrhenatherum elatius, Dittrichia graveolens, Geranium pyrenaicum, Stipa × balkanabatica) from Tajikistan, three (Achnatherum sibiricum, Asyneuma thomsonii, Stipa × balkanabatica) from Kyrgyzstan, one (Orobanche bartlingii) from Turkey, one (Calamagrostis obtusata) from China and one (Calamagrosti…

Prospero hierae (Hyacinthaceae), a New Species from Marettimo Island (Sicily)

2009

A new species, Prospero hierae C. Brullo, S. Brullo, Giusso, Pavone & Salmeri (Hyacinthaceae), from Island of Marettimo (Egadi Archipelago, Sicily) is described and illustrated. Its chromosome number (2n = 14), leaf anatomy and ecology are examined. This small species with glaucous, adaxially flat leaves is closely related with the taxa belonging to the Prospero autumnale group and, in particular, it shows more affinities with P. corsicum, P. pulchellum and P. minimum.

Chorological notes on the Sicilian endemic Euphorbia papillaris (Euphorbiaceae)

2022

Thanks to the discovery of a new important site in the Trapani Mountains, the distribution of Euphorbia papillaris, a rare plant endemic to N-W Sicily, is revised. On the basis of the unpublished record, one of the two hypotheses on the discovery of the species in Sicily, previously advanced, is here confirmed. Floristic and ecological information on the new locality are also provided.

<i>Santolina ageratifolia</i> Bamades ex Asso (<i>Compositae</i>) and their relationships with <i>S. rosmarinifolia<…

1997

The status of Santolina ageratifolia Bamades ex Asso as a distinct species belonging to S. rosmarinifolia L. aggr. is vindicated. An historical approach, a revision of the diagnostic characters and a detailed chorology of the species in Spain is presented. Likewise, some doubtful questions conceming taxonomy and chorology in Spain of the whole aggregate (including S. rosmarinifolia L. s. str., S. canescens Lag., S. pectinata Lag. and S. semidentata Hoffmanns. & Link) are clarified. A new nomenclatural combination is proposed: S. semidentata subsp. melidensis (Rodriguez-Oubina & Ortiz) Lopez Udias, Fabregat & Mateo.
