QCD sum rule analysis of the pentaquark

2005

We perform a QCD sum rule calculation to determine the mass and the parity of the lowest lying pentaquark state. We include operators up to dimension $d=13$ in the OPE and the direct instanton contributions. We find evidence for a positive parity state. The contribution from operators of dimension $d>5$ is instrumental in determining the parity of the state and achieving the convergence of the sum rule.

Azimuthal anisotropy of charged jet production in sNN=2.76 TeV Pb–Pb collisions

2016

We present measurements of the azimuthal dependence of charged jet production in central and semicentral √sNN = 2.76 TeV Pb–Pb collisions with respect to the second harmonic event plane, quantified as vch jet 2 . Jet finding is performed employing the anti-kT algorithm with a resolution parameter R = 0.2 using charged tracks from the ALICE tracking system. The contribution of the azimuthal anisotropy of the underlying event is taken into account event-by-event. The remaining (statistical) region-to-region fluctuations are removed on an ensemble basis by unfolding the jet spectra for different event plane orientations independently. Significant non-zero vch jet 2 is observed in semi-central …

Measurement of differential Z/γ∗+jet+X cross sections in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV

2008

We present new measurements of differential cross sections for Z/gamma*(->mumu)+jet+X production in a 1 fb-1 data sample collected with the D0 detector in proton anti-proton collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. Results include the first measurements differential in the Z/gamma* transverse momentum and rapidity, as well as new measurements differential in the leading jet transverse momentum and rapidity. Next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions are compared to the measurements, and reasonable agreement is observed, except in the region of low Z/gamma* transverse momentum. Predictions from two event generators based on matrix elements and parton showers, and one pure parton shower event …

Measurements of mixed harmonic cumulants in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV

2021

Correlations between moments of different flow coefficients are measured in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV recorded with the ALICE detector. These new measurements are based on multiparticle mixed harmonic cumulants calculated using charged particles in the pseudorapidity region |η|<0.8 with the transverse momentum range 0.2<pT<5.0 GeV/c. The centrality dependence of correlations between two flow coefficients as well as the correlations between three flow coefficients, both in terms of their second moments, are shown. In addition, a collection of mixed harmonic cumulants involving higher moments of v2 and v3 is measured for the first time, where the characteristic signature of ne…

Explaining 750 GeV diphoton excess from top/bottom partner cascade decay in two-Higgs-doublet model extension

2016

In this paper, we interpret the 750 GeV diphoton excess in the Zee-Babu extension of the two-Higgs-doublet model by introducing a top partner ($T$)/bottom partner ($B$). In the alignment limit, the 750 GeV resonance is identified as the heavy CP-even Higgs boson ($H$), which can be sizably produced via the QCD process $pp \to T\bar{T}$ or $pp \to B\bar{B}$ followed by the decay $T\to Ht$ or $B \to Hb$. The diphoton decay rate of $H$ is greatly enhanced by the charged singlet scalars predicted in the Zee-Babu extension and the total width of $H$ can be as large as 7 GeV. Under the current LHC constraints, we scan the parameter space and find that such an extension can account for the observe…

Strategies for an accurate determination of the X(3872) energy from QCD lattice simulations

2014

We develop a method to determine accurately the binding energy of the X(3872) from lattice data for the DD* interaction. We show that, because of the small difference between the neutral and charged components of the X(3872), it is necessary to distinguish them in the energy levels of the lattice spectrum if one wishes to have a precise determination of the the binding energy of the X(3872). The analysis of the data requires the use of coupled channels. Depending on the number of levels available and the size of the box we determine the precision needed in the lattice energies to finally obtain a desired accuracy in the binding energy.

QCD matching conditions at thresholds

1993

The use of MS-like renormalization schemes in QCD requires an implementation of nontrivial matching conditions across thresholds, a fact often overlooked in the literature. We shortly review the use of these matching conditions in QCD and check explicitly that the prediction for $\alpha_s(M_Z)$, obtained by running the strong coupling constant from the $M_\tau$ scale, does not substantially depend on the exact value of the matching point chosen in crossing the $b$-quark threshold when the appropriate matching conditions are taken into account.

Inelastic photoproduction

1995

Abstract Inelastic photoproduction of J Ψ particles at high energies is one of the processes to determine the gluon distribution in the nucleon. We have calculated the QCD radiative corrections to the color-singlet model of this reaction. They are large at moderate photon energies, but decrease with increasing energies. The cross section and the J Ψ energy spectrum are compared with the available fixed-target photoproduction data and predictions are given for the HERA energy range.
