Anisotropic quark stars with an interacting quark equation of state

2019

A deep exploration of the parameter space that relates the interacting equation of state with the bag constant B, and the interaction parameter a, is fundamental for the construction of diverse models of quark stars. In particular, the anisotropy of quark stars with a well-motivated quantum chromodynamics (QCD) equation of state is presented here. The contribution of the fourth order corrections parameter ($\mathrm{a}$) of the QCD perturbation on the radial and tangential pressure generate significant effects on the mass-radius relation and the stability of the quark star. An adequate set of solutions for several values of the bag factor and the interaction parameter are used in order to ca…

Measurement ofγ+b+Xandγ+c+XProduction Cross Sections inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2009

First measurements of the differential cross sections for the inclusive production of a photon in association with a heavy quark (c, b) jet are presented, covering photon transverse momenta 30-150 GeV, photon rapidities | y_gamma| 15 GeV. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 1 fb^-1 in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The results are compared with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions.

Charmonium resonances on the lattice

2018

The nature of resonances and excited states near decay thresholds is encoded in scattering amplitudes, which can be extracted from single-particle and multiparticle correlators in finite volumes. Lattice calculations have only recently reached the precision required for a reliable study of such correlators. The distillation method represents a significant improvement insofar as it simplifies quark contractions and allows one to easily extend the operator basis used to construct interpolators. We present preliminary results on charmonium bound states and resonances on the Nf=2+1 CLS ensembles. The long term goal of our investigation is to understand the properties of the X resonances that do…

Towards the N_f=2 deconfinement transition temperature with O(a) improved Wilson fermions: An update

2010

We give an update on our current project to determine the transition temperature and the order of the deconfinement transition in the chiral limit of two flavour QCD. We use nonperturbatively O(a) improved Wilson fermions of the Sheikholeslami-Wohlert type, employing the efficient deflation accelerated DDHMC algorithm. We start at lattices with N_t>=12 and pion masses below 600 MeV, aiming at chiral and continuum limits with light quarks.

Testing the strength of the UA(1) anomaly at the chiral phase transition in two-flavour QCD

2019

We study the thermal transition of QCD with two degenerate light flavours by lattice simulations using $\mathcal{O}(a)$-improved Wilson quarks. Particular emphasis lies on the pattern of chiral symmetry restoration, which we probe via the static screening correlators. On $32^3$ volumes we observe that the screening masses in transverse iso-vector vector and axial-vector channels become degenerate at the transition temperature. The splitting between the screening masses in iso-vector scalar and pseudoscalar channels is strongly reduced compared to the splitting at zero temperature and is actually consistent with zero within uncertainties. In this proceedings article we extend our studies to …

Spectroscopy, lifetime and decay modes of the Tbb− tetraquark

2020

Abstract We present the first full-fledged study of the flavor-exotic isoscalar T b b − ≡ b b u ¯ d ¯ tetraquark with spin and parity J P = 1 + . We report accurate solutions of the four-body problem in a quark model, characterizing the structure of the state as a function of the ratio M Q / m q of the heavy to light quark masses. For such a standard constituent model, T b b − lies approximately 150 MeV below the strong decay threshold B − B ⁎ ¯ 0 and 105 MeV below the electromagnetic decay threshold B − B ¯ 0 γ . We evaluate the lifetime of T b b − , identifying the promising decay modes where the tetraquark might be looked for in future experiments. Its total decay width is Γ ≈ 87 × 10 − …

On the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity in hot quenched lattice QCD

2011

Extending our recent work, we report on a calculation of the vector current correlation function for light valence quarks in the deconfined phase of quenched QCD in the temperature range 1.16Tc<T<2.98Tc. After performing a systematic analysis of the in fluence of cut-off effects on light quark meson correlators using clover improved Wilson fermions, we discuss resulting constraints on the electrical conductivity in a quark gluon plasma.

QCD generates the ϱ-resonance

1991

Abstract The question whether the asymptotic QCD amplitude contains potentially hadronic resonances is examined by a mathematically rigorous method, based on the theory of maximally converging sequences of polynomials and conformal mappings. It is shown that the extrapolated amplitude to the physical cut exhibits indeed a bump structure which corresponds to the ϱ-resonance.

Semileptonic B ->pi decays from an Omnes improved nonrelativistic constituent quark model

2005

The semileptonic $B\to \pi l^+ \nu_l$ decay is studied starting from a simple quark model which includes the influence of the $B^*$ pole. To extend the predictions of a nonrelativistic constituent quark model from its region of applicability near $q^2_{\rm max}=(m_B-m_\pi)^2$ to all $q^2$ values accessible in the physical decay, we use a novel multiply-subtracted Omn\`es dispersion relation, which considerably diminishes the form factor dependence on the elastic $\pi B \to \pi B$ scattering amplitudes at high energies. By comparison to the experimental branching fraction we extract $|V_{ub}| = 0.0034 \pm 0.0003 ({\rm exp}) \pm 0.0007 ({\rm theory})$. To further test our framework, we also s…
