Address Event Representation (AER) approach to resistive sensor arrays
2020
Address event representation (AER) has become an excellent strategy when approaching traditional frame based applications, mainly vision sensors. In this paper, and Within this scope, the potential of the AER paradigm is demonstrated when considering resistive (non-vision) sensor arrays. For showing quantitative evidences, MOS AMS 0.35 μm versions of some of the circuit cells typically used in AER systems, such as Winner-Take-All (WTA) circuits, have been implemented and analyzed. In these unit-cells, basic resistance-controlled sources are considered as per sensing devices. Preliminary simulation results demonstrate that this approach is valid for a wide range of resistive sensors.

Dense matter with eXTP
2019
In this White Paper we present the potential of the Enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry (eXTP) mission for determining the nature of dense matter; neutron star cores host an extreme density regime which cannot be replicated in a terrestrial laboratory. The tightest statistical constraints on the dense matter equation of state will come from pulse profile modelling of accretion-powered pulsars, burst oscillation sources, and rotation-powered pulsars. Additional constraints will derive from spin measurements, burst spectra, and properties of the accretion flows in the vicinity of the neutron star. Under development by an international Consortium led by the Institute of High Energy Physics o…
What is the optimal environment for the long-term physical development of the young elite rugby player? : Study of the physical characteristics and c…
2023
To ensure long-term sporting success, a governing body such as French Rugby Union (FFR) must implement a physical development plan from youth to senior player. In this way, federal academies have been created for players from 15 years old (category under 16 (U16)), to 17 years old and then the development continues in clubs. Throughout their youth career, players might experience U18 or U20 teams, selection which are the two only national youth French team. The aim of this thesis was to describe the physical development of young French rugby players from their entry into national pathway (U16) to U20. To achieve this, we first described the anthropometric and physical characteristics of pla…
Molecular size and net charge of pathogenesis-related enzymes from barley (Hordeum vulgare L., v. Karat) infected withDrechslera teres f. teres (Sacc…
1998
Molecular size and net charge of isoforms of pathogenesis-related (PR) chitinase, beta-1,3-glucanase and peroxidase were studied in uninfected barley (Hordeum vulgare L., v. Karat) leaves and in barley leaves infected with the pathogenic fungus Drechslera teres f. teres (Sacch.) Shoem. Molecular characteristics were determined by time-dependent polyacrylamide gradient gel electrophoresis under native conditions and by applying an extended version of the computer program MOL-MASS (Rothe, G. M., Weidmann, H., Electrophoresis 1991, 12, 703-709). Uninfected barley leaves contained predominantly one peroxidase isozyme but also three very weak peroxidases. Activities of all of these three peroxid…

Modern taurine cattle descended from small number of near-eastern founders.
2012
Archaeozoological and genetic data indicate that taurine cattle were first domesticated from local wild ox (aurochs) in the Near East some 10,500 years ago. However, while modern mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) variation indicates early Holocene founding event(s), a lack of ancient DNA data from the region of origin, variation in mutation rate estimates, and limited application of appropriate inference methodologies have resulted in uncertainty on the number of animals first domesticated. A large number would be expected if cattle domestication was a technologically straightforward and unexacting region-wide phenomenon, while a smaller number would be consistent with a more complex and challengin…

Commercial sharks under scrutiny: Baseline genetic distinctiveness supports structured populations of small-spotted catsharks in the Mediterranean Sea
2023
The present study, based on microsatellite markers, describes a population genetic analysis of the small-spotted catshark Scyliorhinus canicula (Linnaeus, 1758), representing one of the most abundant and commonly caught cartilaginous fishes in the Mediterranean Sea and adjacent areas. The analyses were performed to unravel the genetic features (variability, connectivity, sex-biased dispersal) of their relative geographic populations, both at the small (around the coast of Sardinia, Western Mediterranean Sea) and at a larger spatial scale (pan-Mediterranean level and between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea). Individual clustering, multivariate and variance analyses rejected the …
