Altered processing of sensory stimuli in patients with migraine.
2014
Migraine is a cyclic disorder, in which functional and morphological brain changes fluctuate over time, culminating periodically in an attack. In the migrainous brain, temporal processing of external stimuli and sequential recruitment of neuronal networks are often dysfunctional. These changes reflect complex CNS dysfunction patterns. Assessment of multimodal evoked potentials and nociceptive reflex responses can reveal altered patterns of the brain's electrophysiological activity, thereby aiding our understanding of the pathophysiology of migraine. In this Review, we summarize the most important findings on temporal processing of evoked and reflex responses in migraine. Considering these d…
Ulisse modello di decorum: a proposito di Cic. Tusc. 2, 48-50.
2021
The paper deals with the character of Ulysses within the frame of the Tusculanae disputationes with a particular focus on the sequence 2, 48-50. The comparison between the hero and other mythological figures (e.g. Philoctetes) allows us to observe the role of Ulysses as a model for decorum, analysing at the same time the way in which Cicero reinterprets actions and behavior of the character starting from the fragments of Pacuvius’ Niptra.

Influence d'une supplémentation en vitamines sur le rendement de la locomotion après une épreuve d'ultratrail
2006
International audience; Aim: The purpose of this study was to study changes in gross efficiency of locomotion after a prolonged trail running race (3000 m up and 300 m down). The second purpose was to investigate the effectiveness of supplementation in vitamin on gross efficiency variability.Materials and methods: Twenty-two well-trained endurance runners took part in this study. They had to perform four sub maximal tests before, 24, 48 and 72 hours after the race in order to estimate gross efficiency of locomotion and a maximal contraction test in the same period. They were divided in two groups either with supplementation (Isoxan Endurance ®) or without (placebo). Results: In both groups w…
La citazione 'Si in ius vocat' in Cic., leg. 2.9

“THERMAL NOCICEPTION STUDIES IN ZEBRAFISH”
2012
Background Nociception was defined by Sherrington as the mechanism used to sense painful events. Despite the value of current animal models for nociception and pain, we have not yet understood in full how these mechanisms operate. Aim Here we propose a novel approach using zebrafish (Danio rerio) larvae in order to determine if the fish is suitable for the study of pain stimuli. Taking advantage of the fact that, in response to noxious stimuli, the expression of several genes in mammals is induced in neurons of the spinal cord and the dorsal root ganglia (DRG), we investigated if such mechanism is evolutionary conserved in the Zebrafish. Materials and Methods We cloned homologues of mammals…

Walk tests : a standardizable tool to assess capacities in cardio-vascular disease
2011
Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases remain the first cause of mortality and handicap in the world. With the improvements in the management of the acute phase, the number of patients with limited exercise capacity due to chronic cardiovascular disease is increasing. The aim of this thesis was to conduct a thorough study of the use of standardized walk tests to assess exercise capacity in coronary artery disease patients. We first explain the concepts of handicap and quality of life in chronic diseases, and the need for functional evaluations in order to assess their impact and evolution. We then present the current modalities of cardiac rehabilitation, emphasizing the importance of p…
