CT and MR imaging of chemotherapy-induced hepatopathy.

2019

Chemotherapy-induced hepatopathy includes a wide variety of parenchymal and vascular hepatic changes on imaging, including diffuse or focal hepatopathies (i.e. hepatitis, steatosis, fibrosis, pseudocirrhosis, or sinusoidal obstruction). These changes can profoundly alter the hepatic parenchyma on imaging and result in both false negative and false-positive diagnoses of hepatic metastases and lead to errors in patient management strategies. It is therefore important for radiologists to have a comprehensive knowledge of the imaging patterns that may develop following chemotherapy. The purpose of this review is to explore the broad spectrum of hepatic parenchymal and vascular chemotherapy-indu…

Maxillofacial metastasis of genitourinary origin. A report of 3 cases and review of the literature.

2010

Introduction: The maxillofacial region can harbour a wide range of primary tumours, as well as secondary tumours spreading from distant sites. Rare, though nevertheless important among the latter are genitourinary tumours, such as clear cell renal carcinoma and cervical cancer. Diagnosis of the maxillofacial metastasis sometimes precedes that of the original site, though in other cases the metastasis may arise many years after treatment of the primary tumour. Case report: We present three cases of maxillofacial metastasis of genitourinary tumours, two clear cell renal ade-nocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix. The patients were referred our hospital service for diagn…

Vacuum inversion and securing of distal colonic pseudodiverticula with novel spiked O-rings

2015

Background Diverticular disease is increasingly prevalent in Western societies and is associated with significant morbidity. Objective Two-stage endoscopic device development for inversion and secured ligation of colonic diverticula; first, human cadaver studies were performed to measure forces required for diverticular inversion; second, a novel set of devices (elastic spiked O-ring with delivery system) was tested in animals. Design Prospective, observational study of human cadavers and prospective, interventional study of a porcine model. Setting University hospital pathology laboratory and animal facility. Intervention Full-thickness inversion of the colonic wall with a pipelike deliver…

Recommendations for Multimodal Noninvasive and Invasive Screening for Detection of Extracranial Venous Abnormalities Indicative of Chronic Cerebrospi…

2014

Under the auspices of the International Society for Neurovascular Disease (ISNVD), four expert panel committees were created from the ISNVD membership between 2011 and 2012 to determine and standardize noninvasive and invasive imaging protocols for detection of extracranial venous abnormalities indicative of chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI). The committees created working groups on color Doppler ultrasound (US), magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, catheter venography (CV), and intravascular US. Each group organized a workshop focused on its assigned imaging modality. Non-ISNVD members from other societies were invited to contribute to the various workshops. More than 60 neuro…

Früh- und Spätergebnisse der perkutanen transluminalen Angioplastie (PTA) beim Diabetiker

1991

Results of 127 iliac and femoropopliteal transluminal angioplasties in 97 diabetic patients are presented. Patients who had undergone iliac (n = 70), femoral (n = 41), and popliteal (n = 16) angioplasties for stenoses up to 15 cm long were followed up for 6-60 months. In diabetic patients presenting with only claudication or adequate runoff, the 5-year iliac patency rate was 76% and the femoral patency rate was 60%; these results were comparable with those found in non-diabetic patients. For limb salvage, 3-year patency rates were 66% for iliac, 37% for femoral, and 37% for popliteal angioplasties, and 5-year patency rates were 29% for iliac, 7% for femoral, and 0% for popliteal angioplasti…

Vasodilator Stress CMR and All-Cause Mortality in Stable Ischemic Heart Disease

2020

Abstract Objectives This study explored the association of ischemic burden, as measured by vasodilator stress cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR), with all-cause mortality and the effect of revascularization on all-cause mortality in patients with stable ischemic heart disease (SIHD). Background In patients with SIHD, the association of ischemic burden, derived from vasodilator stress CMR, with all-cause mortality and its role for decision-making is unclear. Methods The registry consisted of 6,389 consecutive patients (mean age: 65 ± 12 years; 38% women) who underwent vasodilator stress CMR for known or suspected SIHD. The ischemic burden (at stress first-pass perfusion imaging) was com…

Transverse Sinus Stenosis in Refractory Chronic Headache Patients: An Observational Study

2019

Background: Transverse sinus stenosis is a common brain MRI finding in chronic migraine (CM) and chronic tension-type headache (CTTH) patients in clinical practice; however, its clinical and diagnostic role is unclear. The aim of the study is to determine the frequency of transverse sinus stenosis in these headache patients resistant to preventive treatments and to verify whether this is a useful finding for identifying patients with intracranial hypertension. Methods: This is an observational study. Patients with refractory CM and CTTH underwent a 3T-magnetic resonance venography (MRV) before cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) opening pressure measurement. Transverse sinus stenosis was determined u…

Transpenile Venenokklusion zur Therapie der erektilen Impotenz

1989

In 15 of 18 patients, 2 of them with previous surgery, transpenile venoablation was performed for treatment of erectile dysfunction due to cavernous leakage. In 4 this was combined with retrograde venooclusion via the internal iliac vein. In 4 patients normal erectile status could be obtained. In 3 other patients erections became possible with use of intracavernous vasoactive agents. In two only mild amelioration, and in two others no change of erectile dysfunction were obtained. Follow-up studies are yet missing in 3 patients. Complications of the procedure were not observed.

1177 The additive prognostic value of end-systolic pressure-volume relation by CMR in patients with with known or suspected coronary artery disease

2020

Abstract Background The variation between rest and peak stress end-systolic pressure-volume relation is an afterload-independent index of left ventricular contractility. This index is easily obtained during routine stress echocardiography but can be derived also during a stress cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) exam, that is the gold standard for the quantification of biventricular volumes. Purpose The aim of this study was to assess for the first time the prognostic value ofdelta rest-stress ESPVR (DESPVR) by dipyridamole stress-CMR in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods One hundred and sixty-six consecutive patients (37 females, main age 61.96 ± 1…
