Nucleon dissociation and incoherent J/ψ photoproduction on nuclei in ion ultraperipheral collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

2019

Using the general notion of cross section fluctuations in hadron-nucleus scattering at high energies, we derive an expression for the cross section of incoherent J / ψ photoproduction on heavy nuclei d σ γ A → J / ψ Y / d t , which includes both elastic d σ γ p → J / ψ p / d t and proton-dissociation d σ γ p → J / ψ Y / d t photoproduction on target nucleons. We find that, with good accuracy, d σ γ A → J / ψ Y / d t can be expressed as a product of the sum of the d σ γ p → J / ψ p / d t and d σ γ p → J / ψ Y / d t cross sections, which have been measured at HERA, and the common nuclear shadowing factor, which is calculated using the leading twist nuclear shadowing model. Numerical procedures and their practical application in PV module analyses. Part III: parameters of atmospheric transparency – determining and correl…

2023

The presented article examines aspects of a PV module testing using natural sunlight in outdoor conditions. The article discusses the physical sense of indexes: atmosphere purity, diffused component content, beam clear sky index. Procedures for their determination are given in relation to both instantaneous and daily values. Their close connection with the values of solar irradiance spectral distribution such as Average Photon Energyand Useful Fractionis demonstrated, as well as their usefulness in moduletesting in outdoor conditions. Their influence on the conversion of modules made from various absorbers and various technologies is demonstrated

Problem-Based Learning in Professional Studies from the Physiotherapy Students’ Perspective

2018

The aim of the study was to investigate how physiotherapy students using a problem-based learning approach develop into experts during higher education, and answers the question: How do physiotherapy students at bachelor’s level understand the problem-based learning approach while learning to become professionals? PBL is examined using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) of longitudinal data written by 15 voluntary students from two different higher education institutions and collected during 3.5 years. The main results on the new way of learning strengthen earlier conceptions of the importance of reflection in the learning process. The PBL method activates a reflection process b…

Recent results on Heavy-Ion induced reactions of interest for 0νββ decay

2019

An updated overview of recent results on Heavy-Ion induced reactions of interest for neutrinoless double beta decay is reported in the framework of the NUMEN project. The NUMEN idea is to study heavy-ion induced Double Charge Exchange (DCE) reactions with the aim to get information on the nuclear matrix elements for neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay. Moreover, to infer the neutrino average masses from the possible measurement of the half- life of 0νββ decay, the knowledge of the nuclear matrix elements is a crucial aspect. peerReviewed

Two- and three-pion quantum statistics correlations in Pb-Pb collisions at root S-NN=2.76 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

2014

[Introduction] Correlations induced by quantum statistics are sensitive to the spatiotemporal extent as well as dynamics of particle-emitting sources in heavy-ion collisions. In addition, such correlations can be used to search for the presence of a coherent component of pion production. Two- and three-pion correlations of same and mixed charge are measured at low relative momentum to estimate the coherent fraction of charged pions in Pb-Pb collisions at √ s N N = 2 . 76 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider with ALICE. The genuine three-pion quantum statistics correlation is found to be suppressed relative to the two-pion correlation based on the assumption of fully chaotic pion emission. …

Comparison of 99mTc-Labeled Colloid SPECT/CT and Planar Lymphoscintigraphy in Sentinel Lymph Node Detection in Patients with Melanoma: A Meta-Analysis

2020

We compared the detection rate (DR) for sentinel lymph nodes (SLNS), the number of SLNs and the subjects with additional SLNs of single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT/CT) and planar lymphoscintigraphy (PL) in patients with melanoma. Furthermore, we evaluated the impact of SPECT/CT on surgical plans. Articles containing head-to-head comparisons between SPECT/CT and PL were searched in Pubmed/MEDLINE and Scopus. The literature search was updated until December 31st, 2019. DR was calculated on a per-patient-based analysis; the studies were pooled by their odds ratios (ORs) with a random effects model to assess the significance of difference (p < 0.05). The number of additional S…

Fission of 180,182,183Hg* and 178Pt* nuclei at intermediate excitation energies

2022

Purpose: The study of asymmetric and symmetric fission of 180,182,183Hg and 178Pt nuclei as a function of their excitation energy and isospin. Methods: Mass-energy distributions of fission fragments of 180Hg, 178Pt (two protons less than 180Hg), and 182Hg (two neutrons more than 180Hg) formed in the 36Ar+144Sm,142Nd, and 40Ca+142Nd reactions were measured at energies near and above the Coulomb barrier. Fission of 183Hg obtained in the reaction of 40Ca with 143Nd was also investigated to see if one extra neutron could lead to dramatic changes in the fission process due to the shape-staggering effect in radii, known in 183Hg. The measurements were performed with the double-arm time-of-flight …
