Analysis of complement C3 activation products in human atherosclerotic lesions.

1991

Abstract Cleavage of the complement C3 protein is essential for complement activation. Saline extracts of human atherosclerotic lesions were examined by various techniques for the presence of C3 cleavage fragments. Crossed intermediate gel immunoelectrophoresis revealed that native C3 was the predominate C3 protein in extracts and that the C3dg fragment was also detected. SDS-PAGE/ Western blot analyses of lesion extracts employing monoclonal antibodies directed at C3c and C3dg fragment determinants demonstrated molecular weight bands corresponding to the known molecular weights of all the physiologic C3 cleavage fragments, except Cab which is known to have a short half-life. After C3, the …

Beneficial Effect of Melatonin on Blastocyst In Vitro Production from Heat-Stressed Bovine Oocytes

2013

Melatonin may play an important role in protecting gametes and embryos from the potential harmful effects of oxidative stress. In this study, we first examined two different heat stress (HS) treatments for in vitro oocyte maturation (Experiment 1: 38.5 vs 41.0°C, during the first 20 h; Experiment 2: 38.5 vs 41.5°C, during the entire period) on bovine oocyte maturation and embryo development. Second, we tested different melatonin concentrations added to the maturation and culture medium (Experiment 3: 0, 10(-12) , 10(-9) , 10(-4)  m; Experiment 4: 0, 10(-3)  m), both with and without HS (38.5 or 41.5°C, respectively). In Experiment 1, the HS treatment resulted in a lower maturation rate and …

A time to look back: analysis of morphokinetic characteristics of human embryo development.

2013

Objective To describe the times associated with the morphological changes that occur in the embryo during preimplantation development based on the largest sample size described with time lapse. Design Cohort study. Setting University-affiliated private center. Patient(s) A total of 9,530 embryos from 1,806 intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles. Intervention(s) None. Main Outcome Measure(s) Using a time-lapse system, embryo images were acquired for at least 68 hours, in some cases reaching 120–130 hours. Embryo cleavage time points up to 8-cell-stage (t2–t8) as well as morulae (tM) and blastocyst formation (tB) were registered in hours after ICSI. Additionally, duration of the cell …

The effects of post-translational processing on dystroglycan synthesis and trafficking1

2003

Dystroglycan is a component of the dystrophin glycoprotein complex that is cleaved into two polypeptides by an unidentified protease. To determine the role of post-translational processing on dystroglycan synthesis and trafficking we expressed the dystroglycan precursor and mutants thereof in a heterologous system. A point mutant in the processing site, S655A, prevented proteolytic cleavage but had no effect upon the surface localisation of dystroglycan. Mutation of two N-linked glycosylation sites that flank the cleavage site inhibited proteolytic processing of the precursor. Furthermore, chemical inhibition of N- and O-linked glycosylation interfered with the processing of the precursor a…

Crystal structure of trans-dichloridobis[N-(5,5-dimethyl-4,5-dihydro-3H-pyrrol-2-yl-κN)acetamide]palladium(II) dihydrate

2017

The title complex, [PdCl2(C8H14N2O)2]2H2O, was obtained by N–O bond cleavage of the oxadiazoline rings of the trans-[dichlorido-bis(2,5,5-trimethyl- 5,6,7,7a-tetrahydropyrrolo[1,2-b][1,2,4]oxadiazole-N1 )]palladium(II) complex. The palladium(II) atom exhibits an almost square-planar coordination provided by two trans-arranged chloride anions and a nitrogen atom from each of the two neutral organic ligands. In the crystal, N—HO, O—HO and O—HCl hydrogen bonds link complex molecules into double layers parallel to the bc plane. peerReviewed

Transfery poselskie jako źródło nowych inicjatyw politycznych

2017

Partie polityczne – zgodnie z klasycznym ujęciem M. Duvergera – powstają według wewnętrznego i zewnętrznego trybu. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza powstawania partii politycznych w Polsce zgodnie z pierwszym trybem (wewnętrznym), wykorzystując do tego koncept „transferu parlamentarnego”, tj. zmian przynależności klubowej posłów skutkujących powstaniem nowej partii politycznej.

PtII versus PdII-assisted [2+3] cycloadditions of nitriles and nitrone. Synthesis of nitrile-derived arylamido platinum(II) and Δ4-1,2,4-oxadiazoline…

2019

Abstract The reactions of bis(organonitrile) platinum(II) complexes trans-[PtCl2(N CR)2] (R = C6H4(p-HC O), CH2C6H4(p-CH3)) with pyrroline N-oxide −O+N CHCH2CH2CMe2 afford arylamido platinum(II) complexes trans-[PtCl2{(O CR)N CCH2CH2CMe2NH}2] (R = C6H4(p-HC O) (1), CH2C6H4(p-CH3) (2)). The spectral data of 1 and 2 show that the oxadiazoline rings in both cases have opened by a spontaneous N O bond cleavage to form (Z)-p-formyl-N-(5,5-dimethylpyrrolidin-2-ylidene)benzamide or (Z)-N-(5,5-dimethylpyrrolidin-2-ylidene)-2-p-tolylacetamide ligands, respectively, where the N-atoms of the benzamide or acetamide moieties coordinate to platinum(II) metal centre in trans positions. However, the reacti…

Transfery poselskie w Sejmie III RP jako element strategii politycznej

2019

The article aims to explain the phenomenon of parliamentary party switching in the context of political strategy Switching parties by legislators during the term is often seen as an opportunistic behavior, focused on obtaining attractive places on electoral party lists The paper’s goals are to determine if the legislators’ will to switch parties is correlated with the party public support and, finally, if the deputies truly have better chances of winning reelection if they switch parties

Trapping and Reactivity of a Molecular Aluminium Oxide Ion

2019

Aluminium oxides constitute an important class of inorganic compound that are widely exploited in the chemical industry as catalysts and catalyst supports. Due to the tendency for such systems to aggregate via Al‐O‐Al bridges, the synthesis of well‐defined, soluble, molecular models for these materials is challenging. Here we show that reactions of the potassium aluminyl complex K 2 [( NON )Al] 2 ( NON = 4,5‐bis(2,6‐diiso‐propylanilido)‐2,7‐di‐tert‐butyl‐9,9‐dimethylxanthene) with CO 2 , PhNCO and N 2 O all proceed via a common aluminium oxide intermediate. This highly reactive species can be trapped by coordination of a THF molecule as the anionic oxide complex [( NON )AlO(THF)] ‐ , which …
