Incesto e ciclo dell'abuso. Aspetti clinici e medico legali
2010
Measurement of activity of the predominant gamma-emitting radionuclides in activated components of a medical cyclotron plan
2008
An identification and activity evaluation of the predominant gamma-emitting radionuclides in activated parts of a medical cyclotron plant by high resolution gamma-ray spectrometry were performed. The use of LaBr3:Ce scintillation and HPGe detectors was examined in order to solve the measurement problems due to high activity of some components used inside a plant provided with an IBA CYCLONE 18/9 cyclotron. For each component, the identification of some key-radionuclides allows to evaluate the surface dose behaviour as function of decay time. The largest activity values are related to radionuclides with half-life of 70-80 days, while radionuclides with higher half-lives represent less than 1…

Cyclosporine or infliximab as rescue therapy in severe 2 refractory ulcerative colitis: Early and long-term data 3 from a retrospective observational…
2012
Introduction: About 30–40% of patients with acute severe ulcerative colitis (UC) fail to respond 23 to intensive intravenous (iv) corticosteroid treatment. Iv cyclosporine and infliximab are an ef- 24 fective rescue therapy in steroid-refractory UC patients but up to now it is still unclear which is Q225 the best therapeutic choice in this setting of patients. 26 Methods: We reviewed our series of severe steroid-refractory colitis admitted consecutively in 27 our referral center since 1994 comparing two historical cohort treated with cyclosporine or 28 infliximab. Iv cyclosporine was administered at the dosage of 2 mg/kg and infliximab at the dos- 29 age of 5 mg/kg. The main outcome was the…
Advantages of Public Cloud Infrastructure in Different Technology Adoption Lifecycle Stages
2012
Independent software vendors (ISV) utilize cloud infrastructure for different reasons. We hypothesize that the motivation to adopt cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) changes as the ISV’s product is getting adopted by the market. In this paper we consider how the infrastructure needs of ISVs change along the stages of ISV product’s adoption lifecycle, and analyze the potential benefits of utilizing IaaS in different stages. The analysis is illustrated with the cases of ISV firms with documented use of IaaS. These cases support the hypothesis that different benefits of IaaS are gaining importance along the adoption lifecycle. peerReviewed
Control of the activity of Rubisco from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii through the redox state of its cysteine residues
2012

Analysis of Multilocus Sequence Typing and Virulence Characterization of Listeria monocytogenes Isolates from Chinese Retail Ready-to-Eat Food
2016
Eighty Listeria monocytogenes isolates were obtained from Chinese retail ready-to-eat (RTE) food and were previously characterized with serotyping and antibiotic susceptibility tests. The aim of this study was to characterize the subtype and virulence potential of these L. monocytogenes isolates by multilocus sequence typing (MLST), virulence-associate genes, epidemic clones (ECs), and sequence analysis of the important virulence factor: internalin A (inlA). The result of MLST revealed that these L. monocytogenes isolates belonged to 14 different sequence types (STs). With the exception of four new STs (ST804, ST805, ST806, and ST807), all other STs observed in this study have been associat…
The Inland Water Copepod Fauna of a Traditional Rural Landscape in a Mediterranean Island (Crustacea, Copepoda)
2022
Although the Mediterranean area is a well-known hotspot of biological diversity, the crustacean assemblages inhabiting inland waters of the Mediterranean islands are to date unevenly known, and detailed information is missing for most taxa and areas. In the frame of this paper, we provide a checklist and a characterization of the copepod fauna of the lentic water bodies occurring in a traditional rural landscape of Sicily, where the co-existence of agriculture, woodlands, and pastoral activities lead to the presence of a wide range of different aquatic habitats. Overall, 22 copepod species belonging to the orders Calanoida, Cyclopoida, and Harpacticoida have been found in the 92 surveyed si…
