Composite polymer electrolytes with improved lithium metal electrode interfacial properties: II. Application in rechargeable batteries

1998

The application of a liquid-free, ceramic-added composite polymer electrolyte in a Li/LiMn{sub 2}O{sub 4} rechargeable battery is presented and discussed. As expected by the high stability of the electrolyte toward the lithium metal anode, the battery has promising characteristics in terms of reliability and cyclability.

Atomic Layer Deposition of Spinel Lithium Manganese Oxide by Film-Body-Controlled Lithium Incorporation for Thin-Film Lithium-Ion Batteries

2013

Lithium manganese oxide spinels are promising candidate materials for thin-film lithium-ion batteries owing to their high voltage, high specific capacity for storage of electrochemical energy, and minimal structural changes during battery operation. Atomic layer deposition (ALD) offers many benefits for preparing all-solid-state thin-film batteries, including excellent conformity and thickness control of the films. Yet, the number of available lithium-containing electrode materials obtained by ALD is limited. In this article, we demonstrate the ALD of lithium manganese oxide, LixMn2O4, from Mn(thd)3, Li(thd), and ozone. Films were polycrystalline in their as-deposited state and contained le…

Synthesis and properties of an Au6 cluster supported by a mixed N-heterocyclic carbene–thiolate ligand

2020

The preparation of a novel Au6 cluster bearing a bidentate mixed carbene–thiolate ligand is presented. The length of linker between the central benzimidazole and thiolate has a strong effect on the formation of cluster products, with a C2 chain giving an Au6 cluster, while a C3 chain results in no evidence of cluster formation. Density functional theory analysis predicts a non-metallic cluster with a large HOMO–LUMO (3.2–3.6 eV) and optical gap.

Inhibitoren der Korrosion 30 (1,2) - Vergleichende Studien über das Verhalten bekannter und bisher unbekannter Inhibitoren der Korrosion des Kupfers …

1985

Interaction of Au16 Nanocluster with Defects in Supporting Graphite: A Density-Functional Study

2011

Soft-landed adsorption of Au-16 on bilayered graphene is investigated using density functional theory. The orientation of the Au-16 cluster and number of neighboring surface vacancies affect the overall structural and electronic properties of the cluster. The results of the PBE, vdW-DF, and vdW-DF2 exchange-correlation functionals are compared for the cluster-substrate interaction for systems with and without defects. In the presence of defects size two and greater, an Au atom adsorbs into the topmost graphene layer; this strongly influences the binding energy (>3 eV), while inducing substantial bending in the carbon plane and altering electronic properties of the system. Though the T-d-sym…

Computation of Unstable Binodals Not Requiring Concentration Derivatives of the Gibbs Energy

1998

The equilibrium of three liquid phases in a binary mixture implies the existence of tie lines and binodals that are different from the normal experimentally observable ones. First of all, there are the metastable extensions of the binodal built up by S/S tie lines. These S/S tie lines fulfill the equilibrium condition of the minimum of the Gibbs energy of the entire two-phase system. Both coexisting phases are located within the meta(stable) region. There are two additional types of tie lines:  U/U (maximum of the Gibbs energy; both end points within the unstable area) and U/S tie lines (saddle point; one end point within the (meta)stable, the other within the unstable region). All types of…

Study of the chemical, physical and functional properties of edible starch-based films

2016

The amount of waste increased annually, mainly from plastic industry. Plastic materials were more produced during the only last ten years than during the last millennium. A potential solution of the ecological and economic problems can be biodegradable or edible films and coatings. The goal of this thesis was to study edible films and coatings based on starch. Fifteen types of film-forming solutions were made: 3 types of starch, starch + different amounts of plasticizer, starch + proteins, starch + oil. To better understanding the interaction between film components, physical, chemical and functional tests were done. Finnaly, validation on real foods (plums) as coatings and films helped to …

Poloxamer/sodium cholate co-formulation for micellar encapsulation of Doxorubicin with high efficiency for intracellular delivery: an in-vitro bioava…

2020

Abstract Hypothesis Doxorubicin hydrochloride (DX) is widely used as a chemotherapeutic agent, though its severe side-effects limit its clinical use. A way to overcome these limitations is to increase DX latency through encapsulation in suitable carriers. However, DX has a high solubility in water, hindering encapsulation. The formulation of DX with sodium cholate (NaC) will reduce aqueous solubility through charge neutralization and hydrophobic interactions thus facilitating DX encapsulation into poloxamer (F127) micelles, increasing drug latency. Experiments DX/NaC/PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymer (F127) formulations with high DX content (DX-PMs) have been prepared and characterized by scat…
