Slow Relaxation of the Magnetization in a {Co IIIMn III} Heterometallic Brick-Wall Network

2021

The use of the cyanide-bearing dicobalt(III) complex (PPh 4 ) 2 [Co 2 III (m-2,5-dpp)(CN) 8 ] as a metalloligand towards [Mn(salen)(H 2 O)]ClO 4 afforded the heterobimetallic two-dimensional compound of formula [{Mn III (salen)} 2 {(m-NC) 4 Co 2 III (m-2,5-dpp)(CN) 4 }] n (1) [PPh 4 + = teraphenylphosphonium cation, 2,5-dpp = 2,5-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine and H 2 salen = N,N’ -ethylenebis(salicylideneimine)] whose structure has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 exhibits a neutral brick-wall structure, where each [Co 2 III (m-2,5-dpp)(CN) 8 ] 2- unit adopts a tetrakis-monodentate bridging mode towards four {Mn III (salen)} + fragments through four of its eight cyan…

ChemInform Abstract: Cobalt Clusters with Cubane-Type Topologies Based on Trivacant Polyoxometalate Ligands.

2016

Four novel cobalt-substituted polyoxometalates having cobalt cores exhibiting cubane or dicubane topologies have been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, electrochemistry, UV–vis spectroscopy, X-ray single-crystal analysis, and magnetic studies. The tetracobalt(II)-substituted polyoxometalate [Co4(OH)3(H2O)6(PW9O34)]4– (1) consists of a trilacunary [B-α-PW9O34]9– unit which accommodates a cubane-like {CoII4O4} core. In the heptacobalt(II,III)-containing polyoxometalates [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(PW9O34)2]9– (2), [Co7(OH)6(H2O)4(PW9O34)2]n9n– (3), and [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(P2W15O56)2]15– (4), dicubane-like {CoII6CoIIIO8} cores are encapsulated between two heptadentate [B-α-PW9O34]9– (in…

ChemInform Abstract: Catalytic Aerobic Oxidative Decarboxylation of α-Hydroxy Acids. Methyl Mandelate as a Benzoyl Anion Equivalent.

2010

Abstract The monomeric square-planar cobalt(III) complex of bis- N,N ′-disubstituted oxamides catalyses the oxidative decarboxylation of α-hydroxy acids with molecular oxygen/pivalaldehyde with very good yields. This reaction offers an interesting alternative in the use of methyl mandelate as a convenient benzoyl anion equivalent.

Optical absorption of zinc selenide doped with cobalt (Zn1−xCoxSe) under hydrostatic pressure

2000

Abstract The optical absorption of the diluted magnetic semiconductor Zn1−xCOxSe (x = 0.02) has been measured at room temperature under hydrostatic pressure up to 14GPa in a membrane diamond-anvil cell. We found two absorption features: (i) an absorption structure in the energy range 1.6−1.8eV, with a negligible pressure shift (i.e., 0.45 ± 0.05 meV/GPa) which we have identified as the Co2+(3d7) internal transition 4A2(F)→+4T1(P) and (ii) an onset in the energy range 2−2.7eV which redshifts with pressure (−8.1±0.6meV/GPa). We have attributed such absorption edge to charge transfer between the ZnSe valence band and the Co2+(3d7) levels.

Selective Cobalt over Nickel separation using neat and confined ionic liquids

2020

International audience; Task Specific Ionic Liquids (TSILs) generated by association between tetraalkylammonium cations and coordinating anions such as dicyanamide (Dca-) and thiocyanate (SCN-) were used for the selective separation of Ni(II) over Co(II). SCN-based TSIL presents higher extraction efficiency than the Dca-based one towards Co(II) (E = 85.4 % vs 54.6 %) and Ni (II) (E = 22 % vs 0.5%) but lower separation factors (βCo/Ni = 21 vs 239). Interestingly, extraction of Co(II) and Ni(II) in Dca-based TSIL can be enhanced using salts with chaotropic anions such as NaNO3 (E > 90 % for Co(II) and E = 85% for Ni(II)). The use of NaCl allows, moreover, the efficient separation of both ions…

Towards oxalate-bridged iron(ii), cobalt(ii), nickel(ii) and zinc(ii) complexes through oxotris(oxalato)niobate(v): an open air non-oxidizing synthet…

2018

Four compounds with the formula [M2(dmphen)4(μ-C2O4)](ClO4)2·2dmso [M = Fe (1), Co (2) and Zn (4); dmphen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline] and [Ni2(dmphen)4(μ-C2O4)]3[NbO(C2O4)3]2·16H2O (3) have been synthesized using the tris(oxalato)oxoniobate(V) complex anion as the oxalate source, and their structures have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray quality crystals of highly insoluble oxalate-bridged species were obtained by taking advantage of the slow release of oxalate by the tris(oxalato)oxoniobate(V) complex anion. The structures of 1–4 all contain oxalate-bridged dimetal(II) units with didentate dmphen molecules acting as end-cap ligands; electroneutrality is ac…

Synthesis, crystallographic and electrochemical study of ethynyl[2.2]paracyclophane derived cobalt metallatetrahedranes

2012

Abstract A series of alkynyl cobalt complexes [Co2(μ-η2-HCC–PCP)(CO)6−nLn] [n = 0 (2); n = 2, L2 = dppa (3), dppm (4), dcpm (6), 2 P(OPh)3 (7)] and [Co2(CO)4L2]2(μ-η2:μ-η2-HCC–PCP–CCH)] (L2 = dppm (8), dcpm (9); (PCP = [2.2]paracyclophane) has been prepared and characterized. The molecular structures of 3 and 4, as well as that of [Co2(CO)4(μ-CO)2(μ2-dcpm)] (5), have been determined by X-ray diffraction. Electrochemical studies (Cyclic Voltammetry, Rotating Disk Electrode) and luminescence spectroscopy have been used to evaluate the extent of the electronic communication through the PCP motif using the “Co2C2” centres as a probe. No electronic coupling between the Co2(CO)n centres via the b…

Electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry of heterobimetallic porphyrin-corrole dyads. Influence of the spacer, metal ion, and oxidation state on …

2005

Combined electrochemical and UV-visible spectroelectrochemical methods were utilized to elucidate the prevailing mechanisms for electroreduction of previously synthesized porphyrin-corrole dyads of the form (PCY)H2Co and (PCY)MClCoCl where M = Fe(III) or Mn(III), PC = porphyrin-corrole, and Y is a bridging group, either biphenylenyl (B), 9,9-dimethylxanthenyl (X), anthracenyl (A), or dibenzofuranyl (O). These studies were carried out in pyridine, conditions under which the cobalt(IV) corrole in (PCY)MClCoCl is immediately reduced to its Co(III) form, thus enabling direct comparisons with the free-base porphyrin dyad, (PCY)H2Co(III) under the same solution conditions. The compounds are all r…
