This paper investigates the energy efficiency (EE) optimization in downlink multi-cell massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO). In our research, the statistical channel state information (CSI) is exploited to reduce the signaling overhead. To maximize the minimum EE among the neighbouring cells, we design the transmit covariance matrices for each base station (BS). Abstract A putative Drosophila homolog of the Friedreich's ataxia disease gene (FRDA) has been cloned and characterized; it has been named Drosophila frataxin homolog (dfh). It is located at 8C/D position on X chromosome and is spread over 1 kb, a much smaller genomic region than the human gene. Its genomic organization is simple, with a single intron dividing the coding region into two exons. The predicted encoded product has 190 amino acids, being considered a frataxin-like protein on the basis of the sequence and secondary structure conservation when compared with human frataxin and related proteins from other eukaryotes. We consider the estimation of the source process of the desired user an the downlink of a code-division multiple access (CDMA) communication system. In downlink signal processing, only the code of the mobile telephone user is known, while the codes of the interfering users are unknown. Blind source separation or independent component analysis is an approach offering the solution to this problem. In this work we apply the fast fixed point algorithm to the separation problem. The algorithm is based on fourth-order statistics optimization. Knowledge about the symbol level timing has to be known only coarsely.

In this correspondence, a model is presented for the analysis of transient speech signals, which is based on a sum of the impulsive responses corresponding to a number of poles with time-dependent parameters. The aim of this analysis is to obtain discriminative features of the different transient elements of speech.
On the Design of Fast Wavelet Transform Algorithms With Low Memory Requirements

In this paper, a new algorithm to efficiently compute the two-dimensional wavelet transform is presented. This algorithm aims at low memory consumption and reduced complexity, meeting these requirements by means of line-by-line processing. In this proposal, we use recursion to automatically place the order in which the wavelet transform is computed. This way, we solve some synchronization problems that have not been tackled by previous proposals. Furthermore, unlike other similar proposals, our proposal can be straightforwardly implemented from the algorithm description. Multiple-Output Walsh Function Generation for Minimum Orthogonality Error

A hazard-free multiple-output Walsh function generator is presented which requires a minimum amount of hardware and is as fast as the integrated logic family employed for the implementation. However, the main characteristic of the instrument is the optimum performance from the viewpoint of the orthogonality of the function generated, as it is shown by the experimental verifications reported.
Bluetooth-3G wireless transmission system for neural signal telemetry

In this contribution a wireless transmission system for neural signals is developed. This system includes data compression algorithms at the information source, namely neural signals recorded by micro-electrode arrays. The signals are transmitted over Bluetooth to a mobile device that, without any processing or storing, retransmits it over 3G to a remote server where signal post-processing and analysis is performed. The overall transmission rate of the system is limited by the Bluetooth link between the information source and the mobile phone, as well as by the limited processing capabilities of the mobile device and also by the 3G-link. Probing the radio emission from air showers with polarization measurements

The emission of radio waves from air showers has been attributed to the so-called geomagnetic emission process. At frequencies around 50 MHz this process leads to coherent radiation which can be observed with rather simple setups. The direction of the electric field induced by this emission process depends only on the local magnetic field vector and on the incoming direction of the air shower. We report on measurements of the electric field vector where, in addition to this geomagnetic component, another component has been observed which cannot be described by the geomagnetic emission process.
