The object of the study is to demonstrate that an enterprise can be efficient also when it concerns the protection of the environment and that this is the key in order to obtain a sustainable development. In order to obtain this, a company is held to reduce the impact of the products during the entire life cycle of the product (from production to disposal) and to use adequate strategies that aim to reduce the impacts on the environment. The analysis will regard the field of packaging, considering a Sicilian company, that produces packaging made by Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and in particular boxes for fish.

Il poema Sens e razos d’una escriptura, noto anche come Vangelo occitano di Nicodemo, è uno dei più interessanti della letteratura religiosa in lingua d’oc, eppure è stato fino a oggi sorprendentemente trascurato. Attingendo a diverse fonti, anche di natura apocrifa, il testo prende avvio dalla passione di Gesù e dai fatti che la seguirono – tra cui lo spettacolare spaccato della Discesa agli inferi del Signore – e prosegue tracciando una storia completa della salvezza, fino al Giudizio Finale. Malgrado la pluralità di materiali eterogenei usati dall’autore, il poema presenta una chiara unità stilistica. Application of a Bayesian Spatiotemporal Surveillance Method to NYC Syndromic Data

Incorporating prior knowledge (e.g., the spatial distribution of zip codes and background population effects) into a model using Bayesian methods could potentially improve outbreak detection. We adapted a previously described Bayesian model-based spatiotemporal surveillance technique to daily respiratory syndrome counts in NYC Emergency Department data in 2009, the year of the H1N1 influenza pandemic. Citywide, 56 alarms were produced across 15 zip codes, all during days of elevated respiratory visits. Future work includes evaluating our choice of baseline length, considering other alarm thresholds, and conducting a formal evaluation of the method across five syndromes in NYC.

Histone acetylation plays a key role in the regulation of gene expression. The chromatin structure and accessibility of genes to transcription factors is regulated by enzymes that acetylate and deacetylate histones. The Sin3A corepressor complex recruits histone deacetylases and in many cases represses transcription. Here, we report that SAP30L, a close homolog of Sin3-associated protein 30 (SAP30), interacts with several components of the Sin3A corepressor complex. We show that it binds to the PAH3/HID (Paired Amphipathic Helix 3/Histone deacetylase Interacting Domain) region of mouse Sin3A with residues 120–140 in the C-terminal part of the protein.
