A class of weak pseudo-bosons and their bi-coherent states

2022

In this paper we extend some previous results on weak pseudo-bosons and on their related bi-coherent states. The role of {\em compatible} functions is discussed in details, and some examples are considered. The pseudo-bosonic ladder operators analysed in this paper generalize significantly those considered so far, and a class of new diagonalizable manifestly non self-adjoint Hamiltonians are deduced.

Observation of a narrow inner-shell orbital transition in atomic erbium at 1299 nm

2021

We report on the observation and coherent excitation of atoms on the narrow inner-shell orbital transition, connecting the erbium ground state $[\mathrm{Xe}] 4f^{12} (^3\text{H}_6)6s^{2}$ to the excited state $[\mathrm{Xe}] 4f^{11}(^4\text{I}_{15/2})^05d (^5\text{D}_{3/2}) 6s^{2} (15/2,3/2)^0_7$. This transition corresponds to a wavelength of 1299 nm and is optically closed. We perform high-resolution spectroscopy to extract the $g_J$-factor of the $1299$-nm state and to determine the frequency shift for four bosonic isotopes. We further demonstrate coherent control of the atomic state and extract a lifetime of 178(19) ms which corresponds to a linewidth of 0.9(1) Hz. The experimental findi…

Estimation of Vegetation Structure Parameters From SMAP Radar Intensity Observations

2021

In this article, we present a multipolarimetric estimation approach for two model-based vegetation structure parameters (shape A and orientation distribution ψ of the main canopy elements). The approach is based on a reduced observation set of three incoherent (no phase information) polarimetric backscatter intensities (|S HH | 2 , |S HV | 2 , and |S VV | 2 ) combined with a two-parameter (A P and ψ) discrete scatterer model of vegetation. The objective is to understand whether this confined set of observations contains enough information to estimate the two vegetation structure parameters from the L-band radar signals. In order to disentangle soil and vegetation scattering influences on th…

Vers le contrôle de l'alignement et de l'orientation : théorie et expérience

2010

This thesis is about the control and characterisation of the alignment and orientation of molecules by ultra short laser pulses on a theoretical and experimental approach. Alignment corresponds to a symmetric angular distribution of the molecular axis peaked along the laser field axis, whereas orientation provides an asymmetric distribution favouring one spatial direction. Orientation by sudden two-colour (2+1) pulses is studied extensively for the non resonant case and conditions required for achieving significant orientation are explored. A second two-colour scheme, where the second harmonic is in quasi resonance with a vibrational level of the molecule, is also presented and discussed. T…

CARS spectroscopy of CH4 for implication of temperature measurements in supercritical LOX/CH4 combustion

2007

International audience; Experimental and theoretical investigations of coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy of CH4 have been carried out. Experimental spectra were measured in a heated high-pressure test cell and compared with numerical simulations. Good agreement was obtained for the temperature and the pressure dependence of CARS spectra in the ranges 300-1100 K and 0.1-5.0 MPa. The observed dependencies provide useful guidance for CARS thermometry, allowing quantitative measurements of temperature in high-pressure combustors. Application of multiplex CH4 CARS thermometry for single-shot measurements in a LOX/CH4 combustion at high pressure was demonstrated at supercritical conditions …

Shaping of a ground state rotational wavepacket by frequency-chirped pulses

2001

0953-4075; A coherent rotational superposition state is produced in the ground vibronic level of N2 through the interaction of the molecule with the electric field vector of a nonresonant laser pulse. This rotational wavepacket is shaped with a linear frequency chirp of the laser field. The structural shape of the rotational coherences shows a strong dependence with the frequency-chirp amplitude. A comparison with a theoretical model allows the interpretation of the observed effects in terms of dephasing of the wavepacket induced by the laser phase distortion. Application of the presented results to the phase characterization of short XUV pulses is suggested.

Collisional line broadening and line shifting in N2-CO2 mixture studied by inverse Raman spectroscopy

1990

Abstract Collisional effects in the Raman Q-branch of N 2 perturbed by CO 2 have been studied by high-resolution stimulated Raman spectroscopy. The Raman spectra recorded in the 0.3–1.0 atm and 295–1000 K pressure and temperature ranges are fitted with a theoretical profile taking into account line broadening, frequency shift and line mixing due to rotational energy transfers. The data at low density are used as basic data for the modeling of rotationally inelastic rates through sets of adjustable parameters. We have used in this study the two main models developed in the last decade and known as modified exponential gap (MEG) and energy corrected sudden (ECS) laws. Experimental spectra rec…

Experimental and theoretical study of line mixing in methane spectra. III. The Q branch of the Raman ν1 band

2000

The shape of the ν1 Raman Q branch of CH4 perturbed by Ar and He at room temperature has been studied. Stimulated Raman spectroscopy (SRS) experiments have been made in the 2915–2918 cm−1 spectral region for total pressures from 0.4 to 70 atm and mixtures of ≈5% CH4 with He and Ar. Analysis of the spectra demonstrates that the shape of the Q branch is significantly influenced by line mixing and much narrower than what is predicted by the addition of individual line profiles. For the first time, a model is proposed for the calculation and analysis of the effects of collisions on the considered spectra. In this approach, the rotational part of the relaxation matrix is constructed, with no adj…

Collisional shifting and broadening coefficients for the rovibrational anisotropic lines of the ν1/2ν2 fermi dyad in CO2 gas studied by stimulated Ra…

1998

High-resolution stimulated Raman spectroscopy was applied to the study of collisional broadening and shifting for rovibrational anisotropic Raman lines of the Fermi dyad of molecular carbon dioxide. The O(J) lines of the ν1 band and the S(J) lines of the 2ν2 band were recorded at 295 K. The pressure-induced line shifts were obtained and compared with the overall shift of the high-density Raman Q-branch. A rotational quantum number dependence of the rovibrational line broadening coefficients was observed. The experimental line broadening coefficients were used in order to check the ability of two theoretical methods (random phase approximation and sum rule) for calculating the line broadenin…

New super-orthogonal space-time trellis codes using differential M-PSK for noncoherent mobile communication systems with two transmit antennas

2010

Published version of an article in the journal: Annals of Telecommunications-Annales Des Telecommunications. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s12243-010-0191-1 In this paper, we develop super-orthogonal space-time trellis codes (SOSTTCs) using differential binary phase-shift keying, quadriphase-shift keying and eight-phase shift keying for noncoherent communication systems with two transmit antennas without channel state information at the receiver. Based on a differential encoding scheme proposed by Tarokh and Jafarkhani, we propose a new decoding algorithm with reduced decoding complexity. To evaluate the performance of the SOSTTCs by way of computer simulat…
