Anchoring Belonging Through Material Practices in Participatory Arts-Based Research
2020
How do people understand belonging and what kinds of stances toward belonging do they take? What kind of knowledge or ways of knowing (EISNER, 2008) does artistic practice yield about belonging? We ask these questions in this article, which is based on the research project Crossing Borders, in which we used participatory arts-based methods to study belonging. We invited participants to explore the notion of belonging in three parallel workshops drawing on different art forms, film, writing and visual arts. The goal of the workshops was for each participant to produce an artwork that deals with belonging. In the article, we identify four stances that the participants expressed toward the con…
Collaborative Business Model Innovation Process for Networked Services
2013
This paper presents a process framework for innovating joint business models (co-BM) for multiple companies. Our framework describes the change management that should be carried out in parallel to the rigorous analysis and development of the business model details. With two illustrative cases we show that fruitful co-BM creation process in networks requires both development of the model itself, but also organizational innovation processes including mutual learning and harmonisation of operations. We claim that by understanding this dual process and its key facets might help (1) to coordinate the practical BM creation projects better and (2) to analyse which BM related decisions contribute o…
Research production in high-impact journals of contemporary neuroscience: A gender analysis
2017
Neuroscience or Neural Science is a very active and interdisciplinary field that seeks to understand the brain and the nervous system. In spite of important advances made in recent decades, women are still underrepresented in neuroscience research output as a consequence of gender inequality in science overall. This study carries out a scientometric analysis of the 30 neuroscience journals (2009–2010) with the highest impact in the Web of Science database (Thomson Reuters) in order to quantitatively examine the current contribution of women in neuroscientific production, their pattern of research collaboration, scientific content, and the analysis of scientific impact from a gender perspect…
TEACHER TEAMS AND SCHOOLS BECOME LEADERS TO DISSEMINATE INNOVATIVE PRACTICE
2016
We will introduce a study about teachers taking part in networking for personal development and becoming teacher leaders. In 2011 a multilevel national joint collaboration network of schools with innovative experience was created to foster dissemination of new teaching and learning experiences among teachers. In order to organize learning for teachers, a lesson based collaborative continuous teacher professional learning model was implemented. The research shows that conducting and analyzing lessons has helped participants become more competent professionals and develop skills that are crucial for a good leader. Categories characterizing teacher leaders and lead schools were identified. Fac…
Valencian Network of Educational Innovation in Optics
2014
[EN] The Valencian Network of Educational Innovation in Optics consists of three groups from the Universitat de València, Universitat Jaume I, and Universitat Politècnica de València. The participants in the network present an extensive background on performing actions to improve teaching practice. They have been involved for years in scientific outreach activities and in a number of educational innovation projects, which have developed innovative teaching materials. With the aim of sharing their experience and enhance their performance, the three groups have decided to join forces to become a Network of Educational Innovation whose main projects are described in this communication.
La saline d'Arc-et-Senans: De l'Utopie à l'industrie
2006
Will collaborative partners’ selection enhance sustainability performance of firms? An empirical study
2015
Main purpose of this paper is to study the role of collaboration for sustainability, in success of business performance. Businesses can have collaborations with many players such as suppliers, logistics operators, clients, intra- and inter-departmental collaborations, for various purposes including the sustainability. We use qualitative approach, mainly semi-structured interviews to understand various dimensions of collaboration namely sharing of valuable information, physical resources both tangible and intangible. We try to understand the collaborative relationships of focal companies under study with its suppliers, buyers and logistics partners. Further, we will study the impact of colla…
Development of 4Cs, Deeper Learning and Metacognitive Strategies
2020
Creativity, Critical thinking, Collaboration and Communication are four of the key components of 21st century learning. The 4Cs approach aims to promote autonomous and confident learners through what is often described as a noticing and questioning pedagogy. This is because the core of the 4Cs approach enables the learner to take ownership of their learning. This is encouraged by teachers through pedagogy that heightens an awareness in close observation and critical reflection. Students are encouraged to take notice of and responsibility for their behaviors. What’s new in the 21st century is the call for education systems to emphasize and develop these competencies in explicit and intention…
Designing and investigating pedagogical scripts to facilitate computer-supported collaborative learning
2008
Computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) appears to provide a promising social approach to foster learning. On the other hand, recent studies have indicated that when learners are left on their own, it is often difficult for teams to engage in productive interactions. Therefore, the use of collaboration scripts as instructional support has been presented as a possibility to trigger productive collaborative activities. This study provides knowledge of collaboration scripts as a pedagogical method to facilitate group processes in virtual environments in authentic educational contexts. The findings indicate that scripts as external support can help students proceed in solving learning …
Case-based portraits of contrasting micro-interaction processes during online assessment of collaborative problem solving
2017
This study recognizes the role and the quality of social aspects in collaborative problem solving (CPS) processes and outcomes. The aim of this study, relying on multiple data and phases of analysis, is to explore and visualise, through contrasting case-based portraits, how micro-interaction processes at pair level evolve during CPS assessments in an online environment. The assessment is designed for a student pair in the STEM domain. The results show that in despite students’ similar CPS performance scores, variations in micro-interactions occurred across pairs. It is expected that studying these patterns at pair level may provide new insights into CPS processes and so to support acquiring…
