Measuring K0SK± interactions using Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN=2.76TeV

We present the first ever measurements of femtoscopic correlations between the K0 S and K± particles. The analysis was performed on the data from Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV measured by the ALICE experiment. The observed femtoscopic correlations are consistent with final-state interactions proceeding via the a0(980) resonance. The extracted kaon source radius and correlation strength parameters for K0 SK− are found to be equal within the experimental uncertainties to those for K0 SK+. Comparing the results of the present study with those from published identical-kaon femtoscopic studies by ALICE, mass and coupling parameters for the a0 resonance are tested. Intrinsic transverse momentum distribution of jet constituents in p-Pb collisions at ALICE

The integral part of the URHIC program is also to study the pp and p–A collision in order to understand the “reference” (unmodified) particle production (in pp) and the “cold” nuclear phenomena in p–A. The main focus of this thesis is to study the parton shower evolution in p–Pb collisions in ALICE by analyzing jet fragmentation transverse momentum (j_{T} ). The analysis of j_{T} in p–Pb collisions, for which ALICE has a high quality data set, lays bases for later extension to pp and Pb–Pb data in order to study the induced gluon radiation. A direct study of the vibrational bending effect in line mixing: The hot degenerate 11(1)0<-01(1)0 transition of CO2

0022-4073; The study of the isotropic Raman Q-branch of a hot band Pi <-- Pi allows one to establish a direct connection between the vibration-rotation angular momentum coupling and the resulting spectra. Due to the l-doubling, the Q-branch is split into two subbranches characterized by either even or odd rotational quantum number j. The vibrational bending reduces the rotational transfer rates inside each of these subbranches by a factor of about two and induces an inter-subbranch coupling. The expected propensity rule towards conservation of the parity index for high rotational levels is well observed. Audiovisual time-to-collision estimation for accelerating vehicles: The acoustic signature of electric vehicles impairs pedestrians' judgments

To avoid collisions, pedestrians intending to cross a road need to accurately estimate the time-to-collision (TTC) of an approaching vehicle. For TTC estimation, auditory information can be considered particularly relevant when the approaching vehicle accelerates. The sound of vehicles with internal combustion engine (ICEVs) provides characteristic auditory information about the acceleration state (increasing speed and engine load). Tectonic evolution of the Sicilian Thrust System (central Mediterranean)

The Sicilian Thrust System (STS) is a south-verging (Africa-verging) fold-and-thrust belt including a Mesozoic-Paleogene sedimentary sequence. This thrust stack owes its origin to the deformation of pre-orogenic strata deposited in different palaeogeographic domains belonging to passive margins of the African plate. The STS was deformed during the Neogene, following the closure of the Tethys Ocean and the continental collision between the Sardo-Corso Block and the North Africa margins. The thrust pile was detached from the underlying basement during the Miocene-Pleistocene. Data-based modeling of vehicle crash using adaptive neural-fuzzy inference system

Vehicle crashes are considered to be events that are extremely complex to be analyzed from the mathematical point of view. In order to establish a mathematical model of a vehicle crash, one needs to consider various areas of research. For this reason, to simplify the analysis and improve the modeling process, in this paper, a novel adaptive neurofuzzy inference system (ANFIS-based) approach to reconstruct kinematics of colliding vehicles is presented. Objective: Two experiments were conducted to determine whether detection of the onset of a lead car’s deceleration and judgments of its time to contact (TTC) were affected by the presence of vehicles in lanes adjacent to the lead car. Grip force regulates hand impedance to optimize object stability in high impact loads

Anticipatory grip force adjustments are a prime example of the predictive nature of motor control. An object held in precision grip is stabilized by fine adjustments of the grip force against changes in tangential load force arising from inertia during acceleration and deceleration. When an object is subject to sudden impact loads, prediction becomes critical as the time available for sensory feedback is very short. The aim of the current study is to develop and obtain valid evidence for a hazard perception test suitable for the Spanish driving population. To obtain valid evidence to support the use of the test, the effect of hazardous and quasi-hazardous situations on the participants' hazard prediction is analyzed and the pattern of results for drivers with different driving experience--that is, learner, novice, and expert drivers and reoffender vs. nonoffender drivers--is compared.
