Context matters-consensus molecular subtypes of colorectal cancer as biomarkers for clinical trials

2019

Abstract The Colorectal Cancer Subtyping Consortium identified four gene expression consensus molecular subtypes, CMS1 (immune), CMS2 (canonical), CMS3 (metabolic), and CMS4 (mesenchymal), using multiple microarray or RNA-sequencing datasets of primary tumor samples mainly from early stage colon cancer patients. Consequently, rectal tumors and stage IV tumors (possibly reflective of more aggressive disease) were underrepresented, and no chemo- and/or radiotherapy pretreated samples or metastatic lesions were included. In view of their possible effect on gene expression and consequently subtype classification, sample source and treatments received by the patients before collection must be ca…

A wavelet-based demosaicking algorithm for embedded applications

2010

This paper presents an alternative to the spatial reconstruction of the sampled color filter array acquired through a digital image sensor. A demosaicking operation has to be applied to the raw image to recover the full-resolution color image. We present a low-complexity demosaicking algorithm processing in the wavelet domain. Produced images are available at the output of the algorithm either in the spatial representation or directly in the wavelet domain for high-level post processing in the latter domain. Results show that the computational complexity has been lowered by a factor of five compared to state of the art demosaicking algorithms.

Survival rates of a lithium disilicate-based core ceramic for three-unit esthetic fixed partial dentures: a 10-year prospective study.

2013

Purpose The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy and long-term survival rate of three-unit fixed partial dentures (FPDs) made from lithium disilicate-based core ceramic. Materials and methods Twenty-one three-unit FPDs were placed in 19 patients to replace single lost teeth in the esthetic area, following a study protocol that took clinical, esthetic, and radiologic aspects into consideration. Each case was reviewed at 1 week following placement, at 6 months, and then annually for 10 years. Statistical analysis was performed using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Results Out of the 19 patients, 14.3% presented reversible postoperative sensitivity. Recession was…

Color and photography in the restorative dentistry. A brief communication about color temperature, dental color and the use of light and photography …

2020

Relevance. Optical properties of dental tissues can be captured by photography, considering the characteristics of the light sources. Therefore photography might become a way to communicate the color and the characterizing aspects of the teeth, reducing the misunderstandings between the dental practice and the laboratory in the project of dental restoration. Purpose. To illustrate some ways of using the current photographic technology to document teeth color correctly, and to be able to communicate it without misunderstandings and to replicate it in a simple way. Materials and methods. The photographs were taken using Nikon D500 digital camera, Nikkor 60 mm 2.8 macro lens, Nikon SB-700 Spee…

Charged Bis-Cyclometalated Iridium(III) Complexes with Carbene-Based Ancillary Ligands

2013

Charged cydometalated (CN) iridium(III) complexes with carbene-based ancillary ligands are a promising family of deep-blue phosphorescent compounds. Their emission properties are controlled primarily by the main CN ligands, in contrast to the classical design of charged complexes where NN ancillary ligands with low-energy pi* orbitals, such as 2,2'-bipyridine, are generally used for this purpose. Herein we report two series of charged iridium complexes with various carbene-based ancillary ligands. In the first series the CAN ligand is 2-phenylpyridine, whereas in the second one it is 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-pyridine. One biscarbene (:CC:) and four different pyridine carbene (NC:) chelators a…

Introduzione

2017

Optical recognition and removal of Hg(II) using a new self-chemosensor based on a modified amino-functionalized Al-MOF

2017

Abstract We developed a simple self-chemical optical sensor for the monitoring and removal of ultra-trace levels of Hg(II) from aqueous media. The development of this sensor was based on the covalent attachment of amino-functionalized aluminum-based MOF particles with ninhydrin. The new sensor is densely coated with a chelating ligand to permit an ultra-fast, selective, pH-dependent visualization for removal of Hg(II) with detection limit (LOD∼0.494 μg L−1). Monitoring was accomplished via both a colorimetric signal visible to the naked eye as well as UV–vis absorption spectroscopy. Digital image-based colorimetric analysis has also used as a semi-quantitative analysis for determination the…

A sequential-injection system for spectrophotometric determination of p -aminobenzoic acid in sunscreens.

2002

A sequential injection method is proposed for spectrophotometric determination of p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) in cosmetic formulations. The method is based on diazotization of the analyte, coupling with 8-hydroxyquinoline, and the subsequent formation of a colored product. The experimental conditions used (coupling reagent, sandwich arrangement, volumes aspirated, propulsion flow rate, reaction coil length) were studied. Response of the sequential injection method were linearly dependent on concentrations up to 25 micro g mL(-1) and the detection limit was 2 micro g mL(-1). Throughput was 51 measurements per hour and a complete cycle, including three measurement per sample and a washing step…
