This paper aims to calculate the energetic and environmental effects of an integrated solid waste management system in Palermo, Italy. In particular, the thermal treatment of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) with energy recovery is assessed. The current characterization at the local scale is taken into account. A mathematical model of gaseous fuel solenoid injector for spark ignition engine has been realized and validated through experimental data. The gas injector was studied with particular reference to the complex needle motion during the opening and closing phases, which strongly affects the amount of fuel injected. Abstract A set of catalysts comprised of gold on different CeO 2 supports has been prepared by a nanocasting route and characterized by several physicochemical techniques. These catalysts have been tested for CO oxidation and show outstanding catalytic activity. Higher calcination temperatures of the hard template, producing a poorly ordered silica template, have led to a higher amount of oxygen vacancies on the surface of CeO 2 . This paper studies the replacement of engine and generator as range extender in a hybrid racing car with a fuel cell system.
