Artificial intelligence centric scientific research on COVID-19 : an analysis based on scientometrics data
2023
AbstractWith the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease throughout the geographies of the globe, expertise from every field has been sought to fight the impact of the virus. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially, has been the center of attention due to its capability to produce trustworthy results in a reasonable time. As a result, AI centric based research on coronavirus (or COVID-19) has been receiving growing attention from different domains ranging from medicine, virology, and psychiatry etc. We present this comprehensive study that closely monitors the impact of the pandemic on global research activities related exclusively to AI. In this article, we produce highly info…
Higher Socioeconomic Status Predicts Less Risk of Depression in Adolescence: Serial Mediating Roles of Social Support and Optimism.
2020
Family socioeconomic status (SES) is known to have a powerful influence on adolescent depression. However, the inner mechanisms underlying this association are unclear. Here, we explore this issue by testing the potential mediating roles of social support (interpersonal resource) and optimism (intrapersonal resource), based on the predictions of the Reserve Capacity Model (RCM). Participants were 652 adolescents (age range: 11-20 years old, Mage =14.55 years, SD = 1.82; 338 boys (51.80%)) from two junior and two senior high schools in Wuhan, China. They completed questionnaires measuring family SES, perceived social support, trait optimism, and depression. Results showed, as predicted, (1) …
Optimal Resource Allocation in Multi-Hop Networks: Contention vs. Scheduling
2014
CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance) is actually the most used method in ad-hoc networks for transmitting on a contending medium, even if it shows poor performance in presence of hidden nodes. To increase performance, we propose an algorithm that combines CSMA and TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) approaches. The adopted solution consists of grouping contending nodes in non-interfering subsets and granting a different numbers of time slots to different groups, while using the CSMA to manage medium access among nodes belonging to the same subset. An optimization procedure to assign the time slots to each subset of nodes and to find an equilibrium between contention …
El efecto moderador de la edad en la relación entre el valor percibido, las TIC del minorista y la lealtad del cliente
2010
AbstractInformation and communication technology (ICT) may represent a source of benefits for retailers. However, there is a debate in the literature on how ICT influences customer-supplier relationships. In addition, the evidence on the effect of age on consumer attitudes towards retail technological solutions is not conclusive. This paper proposes and tests a model to analyze the influence of retail ICT on consumer loyalty towards the retailer, as well as to assess the moderating role of consumer age on this relationship. As a result, customer assessment of retail ICT, together with perceived value, exerts a positive influence on consumer commitment and satisfaction, being the latter an a…
The Moderating Effect of Store Format on the Relationships Between ICT, Innovation and Sustainability in Retailing
2021
Innovation and sustainability are postulated as key variables for the future of large commercial distribution. In addition, the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) solutions, and especially those related to Artificial Intelligence (i.e., Just Walk Out, Intelligent Retail Lab) and digitization, are particularly relevant factors in the current pandemic scenario in which retail companies operate. These tools are essential to face the derived changes in commercial relations, especially between companies and consumers. For all these reasons, this work aims to examine the effect of ICT, as a driving factor for innovation and its direct and indirect impact on sustainabi…
Online grocery shopping before and during the COVID-19 pandemic: A meta-analytical review.
2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced people to limit their physical interactions, which has led to explosive growth in online grocery shopping. However, there is no clear consensus in the retailing literature on whether consumers prefer to buy groceries online. The objective of this current study is to synthesize research about online grocery shopping published before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and to develop a conceptual framework about online grocery purchase intentions and their determinants, the mediation effects of consumers’ attitudes, the moderating effects of COVID-19, and control variables. The meta-analysis presents data derived from 50 independent samples with a sample size of …
Casual, Colloquial, Commonsensical: A News Values Stylistic Analysis of a Populist Newsfeed
2021
This study explores a mediated variety of right-wing populist discourse in the digital context, given the populists’ inclination to bypass legacy media to connect directly to the citizens to garner political support. It analyzes a sample of the Tea Party’s newsfeed headlines posted in the spring of 2019. A corpus of 308 headlines collected according to a “constructed week” formula has been coded first according to selected news values parameters (Bednarek and Caple 2017), and then with respect to stylistic devices operationalized in terms of “casual,” “colloquial” and “commonsensical” expressions. Methodologically, the study aims to combine the perspectives of newsworthiness and stylistics …
A latent profile analysis of trait emotional intelligence to identify beneficial and risk profiles in well-being and job performance: a study among J…
2016
Trait emotional intelligence (EI) is a noteworthy psychological resource in nursing. However, its effects on well-being and job performance are inconsistent. Thus, we explored the latent beneficial and risk profiles of trait EI among 461 Japanese eldercare nurses. Latent profile analysis revealed six latent profiles. In addition, multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) showed that the profile with the highest overall scores on the trait EI dimensions was associated with the most beneficial outcomes (better well-being, higher job performance). In contrast, the profiles with lower overall scores on the trait EI dimensions showed negative outcomes. Moreover, a disproportional profile, ch…
Are Brands Postmodern Relics? Taking a Closer Look at New Sacred Objects
2011
Summary : Ever since the Church lost its monopoly on the sacred, no longer able to solely determine its form or contents, the social sphere has gradually taken over this value, applying it to new human and social objects. As a result, the modes of expression of the sacred have multiplied, along with the subjective and intimate experiences of modern individualism. Among the vast number of potential manifestations of this value, to which almost everything now seems to aspire, this paper will concentrate on commercial brands as vectors of meaning, with the hypothesis that some of them seek to position themselves, in postmodern society, as new figures of the sacred. This area of study is close …
