Determination of the composition of isomeric mixtures of allylstannanes by means of 119Sn and 13C NMR measurements

1993

Abstract Allylstannanes of the type Bun3Sn(C3H3) ((C3H3 = allenyl and propargyl) Me3Sn(C4H7), Bun3Sn(C4H7), Ph3Sn(C4H7), Me3Sn(C4H7)2 and Bun3Sn(C4H7)2 [C4H7 = (E)-but-2-enyl, (Z-but-2-enyl, and but-1-en-3-yl] were prepared via Grignard reactions as isomeric mixtures whose compositions can be directly determined by 119Sn and 13C NMR spectrometry. The 119Sn and 13C δ-values of all possible isomers together with the isomeric compositions of freshly prepared compounds and after isomerization in dry methanol under reflux are reported. The course of isomerization of some compounds in anhydrous methanol at room temperature or in the presence of Bu3SnCl was followed by 119Sn NMR spectrometry.

A preliminary approach to mineral intake in the Spanish diet established from analysis of the composition of university canteen menus

2012

Abstract The concentration of mineral elements in complete menus has in Spain been determined in order to establish the levels of essential and toxic elements and their contribution to the maximum recommended intake. Thirteen university canteen menus obtained from the Burjassot campus, in Valencia, were analysed to establish a first approach on mineral composition in the Spanish diet. The menus were composed of a mixture of cereals, meat, fish, vegetables, fruits and dairy products. Samples were crushed, homogenized and lyophilized, and 25 elements were determinated by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) after digestion of samples in a microwave oven. Menu sam…

Surface composition analysis during the oxidation of ferrites: A necessity

1998

The cationic composition of a titanium ferrite (Fe 2.5 Ti 0.5 O 4 ) has been followed by XPS during its oxidation in cation deficient phases (without crystallographic transformation) in order to reveal a dynamic segregation phenomenon. Indeed, during this oxidation, an important modification of the chemical composition of the first layers of the material has been revealed: below 350 °C, the titanium ferrites surface becomes richer in iron and poorer in titanium. But, if the reaction is extended above 400 °C, some titanium can move to the surface. This phenomenon has been interpreted on the basis of the differences of mobility of the different ions which are present in the material. Finally,…

Nb 4 Te 17 I 4 , a New Pseudo One‐Dimensional Solid‐State Polytelluride

1994

The new ternary compound Nb4Te17I4 has been prepared and structurally characterized. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group C2/c with unit-cell parameters a = 16.199(4), b = 8.128(2), c = 27.355(6) A, β = 110.84(2)°, Z = 4. The structure consists of infinite one-dimensional niobium/tellurium chains running parallel to the crystallographic c direction. The chains are separated by iodine atoms. Short and long metal–metal distances alternate in the sequence of three consecutive short bonds ([d ≈ 3.1 – 3.2 A) and one long (d = 4.268 A) metal–metal separation. Each Nb atom is eight-coordinate. The composition of the chain is ∞11[(Nb5+)2(Nb4+)2(Te22−)4(Te32−)3(I−)4].

Experimental and Theoretical Investigations of Structural Trends for Selenium(IV) Imides and Oxides: X-ray Structure of Se3(NAd) 2

2004

The thermal decomposition of Se(NAd)(2) (Ad = 1-adamantyl) in THF was monitored by (77)Se NMR and shown to give the novel cyclic selenium imide Se(3)(NAd)(2) as one of the products. An X-ray structural determination showed that Se(3)(NAd)(2) is a puckered five-membered ring with d(Se-Se) = 2.404(1) A and |d(Se-N)| = 1.873(4) A. On the basis of (77)Se NMR data, other decomposition products include the six-membered ring Se(3)(NAd)(3), and the four-membered rings AdNSe(micro-NAd)(2)SeO and OSe(micro-NAd)(2)SeO. The energies for the cyclodimerization of E(NR)(2) and RNEO (E = S, Se; R = H, Me, (t)Bu, SiMe(3)), and the cycloaddition reactions of RNSeO with E(NR)(2), RNSO(2) with Se(NR)(2), and S…

Thermal behaviour of anhydrous, dihydrate and (2/1) ethanol forms of 1-O-α-d-glucopyranosyl-d-mannitol

1998

Abstract The melting points of anhydrous 1-O-α- d -glucopyranosyl- d -mannitol, 1-O-α- d -glucopyranosyl- d -mannitol dihydrate and a new compound, 1-O-α- d -glucopyranosyl- d -mannitol-ethanol (2/1) were determined using differential scanning calorimetry. The melting onset values were 169.2 (3), 104.3 (18) and 158.7 (9), respectively, and the melting peak values were 171.4 (5), 107.9 (15) and 160.1 (6), respectively. 1-O-α- d -glucopyranosyl- d -mannitol dihydrate and 1-O-α- d -glucopyranosyl- d -mannitol-ethanol (2/1) decompose to anhydrous form when heated at slow heating rates. According to TG-FTIR measurements, 1-O-α- d -glucopyranosyl- d -mannitol-ethanol (2/1) lost its ethanol in the…

Abstract Crystal structures of Ln 2 (OH) 2 (CrO 4 ) 2 ( Ln = Gd, Tb) and Ln 3 (OH)(CrO 4 ) 4 · 3.5H 2 O ( Ln = Pr, Nd) were determined by a conventional single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. Crystals of Ln 2 (OH) 2 (CrO 4 ) 2 ( Ln = Gd, Tb) are monoclinic, space group P 2 1 / c (no. 14) with lattice parameters a = 8.2454(4) A, b = 11.3834(5) A, C = 12.1420(8) A, and β = 136,590(5)°, Z = 4, D x = 4.92 mg · m -3 for Gd 2 (OH) 2 (CrO 4 ) 2 and a = 8.214(1) A, b = 11.348(1) A, c = 12.094(2) A, and β = 136.59(1)°, Z = 4, D x = 5.01 Mg · m -3 for Tb 2 (OH) 2 (CrO 4 ) 2 . Crystals of Ln 3 (OH)(CrO 4 )) 4 · 3.5H 2 O ( Ln = Pr, Nd) are monoclinic, space group C 2/ c (No. 15) with lattice param…

Calcium dialysability as an estimation of bioavailability in human milk, cow milk and infant formulas

1999

Abstract The calcium dialysability of human milk, cow milk and infant formulas is estimated by applying the in vitro method (Miller, Schricker, Rasmussen, & Van Campen, (1981). American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 34, 2248–2256) slightly modified, as a measure of its bioavailability. The influence of the protein composition of infant formula samples on calcium bioavailability is also studied. Whole cow milk, a pool of human milk and 18 commercial infant formulas of 6 different types are analysed. The highest values of calcium dialysability (mg Ca/100 ml infant formula) correspond to premature (13.6) and follow-up formulas (11.8) and the lowest ones to adapted formulas (3.7); the latter v…
