New Austalides from the Sponge-Associated Fungus Aspergillus sp.

Chromatographic separation of a crude extract obtained from the fungus Aspergillus sp., isolated from the Mediterranean sponge Tethya aurantium, yielded five new meroterpenoid metabolites, austalides M–Q (1–5), together with nine known compounds (6–13). The structures of the new compounds were unambiguously elucidated on the basis of extensive 1D and 2D NMR methods and by mass spectral analysis. Absolute Configurations of Three Naturally Occurring Acetylenic Spiroacetal Enol Ethers

The absolute configurations of three 6,7-oxygenated acetylenic spiroacetal enol ethers were determined by using the kinetic method of Horeau. The results were confirmed by the circular dichroism of the compounds in correlation with the corresponding 6,7-epoxide.

However, fairly little attention has been devoted to the design of ubiquitous computing approaches for spontaneous exploration of large information spaces enabling co-located collaboration. AbstractThe topological entropy of a transformation is expressed in terms of partitions of unity. The transverse entropy of a flow tangential to a foliation is defined and expresed in a similar way. The geometric entropy of a foliation of a Riemannian manifold is compared with the transverse entropy of its geodesic flow.

Multistate active spaces from local CAS-SCF molecular orbitals: the photodissociation of HFCO as an example.

A recently developed algorithm to generate localized molecular orbitals (LMO) is applied to the study of excited states along a photodissociation process. The LMOs allow for the selection of a consistent complete active space (CAS) for the simultaneous description of all the electronic states involved in a multistate process on the basis of simple chemical criteria. The open shell (SC)(2)-CAS-SDCI method along with a basis set of atomic natural orbitals (ANO) has been applied for calculating the main ionization potentials of acetylene, as well as the manifold of excited states of the different symmetries up to 32 eV. Goal Setting and Monetary Incentives: When Large Stakes Are Not Enough

The aim of this paper is to test the effectiveness of wage-irrelevant goal setting policies in a laboratory environment. In our design, managers can assign a goal to their workers by setting a certain level of performance on the work task. We establish our theoretical conjectures by developing a model in which assigned goals act as reference points to workers’ intrinsic motivation. Consistent with our model, we find that managers set goals which are challenging but attainable for an average-ability worker.
