Riso e sorriso e altri saggi sulla nonviolenza nella Grecia antica
2018
Is nonviolence a specificity of oriental culture? The book explores the presence, in ancient Greece, of forms of thought and actions that can be brought back to the idea of nonviolent conflict management. It identifies the role that laughter and smile can play in the resolution of interpersonal contrasts; it illustrates the advice of ‘work on oneself’ as well as on the other, given by ancient philosophers; it focuses on some rules to combat violence without resorting to violence; it presents female mediation practices and identifies various forms of diplomacy, both from above and from below; at least it shows the effective dynamics in view of the reconciliation between adversaries in cases …

Violencia directa en los curricula de instituciones educativas emplazadas en contextos de conflicto armado

Metrópoli colombiana de un histórico y manifiesto tejido de violencia directa por medios armados. The Production of the Landscape of Exception in High Conflict Zone
2013
A wide range of literature shows the persistence of high conflicts and power inequalities in the urban dimension. Consequently, there is a wide exploration of discrimination and subjugation of minority groups in urban areas; on the other hand, there are many progressive and radical urban movements (and scholars) around the world working (and researching) for better and more equal living conditions in the cities. The paper shifts this focus to landscape, analyzing landscape transformation in the West Bank as a result of power inequalities, discrimination, conflicts and colonization. The ongoing transformation of landscape in high conflict zones stretches the meaning of landscape from a natur…
Education for all : the hazard within fragile states
2012
Currently, over a third of children not in school live in countries considered being as fragile. These countries, which are mainly located in sub-Saharan Africa, will not reach the objectives of Education For All for 2015. This thesis covers approaches across comparative education, political science and sociology of organizations. It explores empirically the condi¬tions of achievement of EFA within the contexts of fragility. Despite its ambiguities, the notion of fragile states was adopted in 2005 as an operational concept by most of aid agencies. Definitions of fragile state converge on a set of specific criteria (dysfunctional institutions, chronic socio-political instability, limited acc…
Women's representation in french factums (1770-1789)
2015
This survey (PhD) sheds light on women’s status in the French society between 1770 and 1789, through the study of approximately 200 printed judicial briefs or factums. Although they were under men’s control, women could go to court. Wives had to obey their husbands. Nevertheless, they often showed their independence in judicial briefs. Widows could act by themselves, protect their families and influence the wealth distribution between the family members. “Girls” or “never-married women” are rare in judicial briefs, even though they could play important parts. The mother’s authority was recognized in judicial briefs. Other women also played the mother’s part instead of the real mother, e.g. …

Disentangling the Process of Work–Family Conflict
2016
Abstract. The purpose of this conceptual article is to deliver a new framework model for research on work–family conflict (WFC), which overcomes existing limitations. By adopting an organizational stress perspective on WFC we show that WFC should be conceptualized as a process. By disentangling its components we point out several problems of WFC research and how our new approach can help to avoid them. Research on WFC often does not comply with the current standards of organizational stress research. Common WFC measures bear the potential of content that overlaps with determinants and outcomes, which might spuriously inflate correlations. To avoid measurement overlap, we propose to operati…
Mniejszość Niemiecka w prasie regionalnej w sytuacji konfliktu. Framing i agenda medialna w ramach sporu o „Duże Opole”
2017
