Relativistic corrections and unitary equivalence in elastic electron deuteron scattering.

The role of unitary equivalence of relativistic corrections in elastic electron deutron scattering is studied, starting from a class of approximately, unitarily equivalent Hamiltonians and using consistent charge density operators. The connection of various formal approaches for deriving the relativistic corrections to wave functions and operators are discussed in detail. For reasons of simplicity, we have chosen a pure one-pion-exchange model and calculated the charge and quadrupole form factors of the deuteron. L10 ordered alloys are ideal models for studying the anomalous Hall effect (AHE), which can be used to distinguish the origin from intrinsic (from band structure) or from extrinsic effects (from impurity scatterings). In the bulk limit of L10 ordered FePt films, the AHE is considered to be dominated by the intrinsic contribution, which mainly comes from the strong spin-orbit interaction (SOI) of Pt atoms and exchange-splitting of Fe atoms. Silicon-based light-emitting devices: Properties and applications of crystalline, amorphous and er-doped nanoclusters

In this paper, we summarize the results of an extensive investigation on the properties of MOS-type light-emitting devices based on silicon nanostructures. The performances of crystalline, amorphous, and Er-doped Si nanostructures are presented and compared. We show that all devices are extremely stable and robust, resulting in an intense room temperature electroluminescence (EL) at around 900 nm or at 1.54 μm. Amorphous nanoclusters are more conductive than the crystalline counterpart. In contrast, nonradiative processes seem to be more efficient for amorphous clusters resulting in a lower quantum efficiency. Topological electronic structure and Weyl points in nonsymmorphic hexagonal materials

Using topological band theory analysis we show that the nonsymmorphic symmetry operations in hexagonal lattices enforce Weyl points at the screw-invariant high-symmetry lines of the band structure. The corepresentation theory and connectivity group theory show that Weyl points are generated by band crossings in accordion-like and hourglass-like dispersion relations. These Weyl points are stable against weak perturbations and are protected by the screw rotation symmetry. Based on first-principles calculations we found a complete agreement between the topological predicted energy dispersion relations and real hexagonal materials. Use of thin glass modular optics is a technology currently under study to build light, low cost, large area X-ray telescopes for high energy astrophysics space missions. The angular resolution of such telescopes is limited by local deviations from the ideal shape of the mirrors. One possible strategy to improve it consists in actively correcting the mirror profile by gluing thin ceramic piezo-electric actuators on the back of the glasses. To this aim, we first analyse the relations between the groups G⊗U(1) and \(\tilde G\)c , where G is a Lie group of trivial H o 2 (G,U(1)) cohomology and \(\tilde G\)c is a central extension of Gc (obtained from G by contraction) by U(1).
Associative and reflective connections between the limit of the difference quotient and limiting process

Abstract This paper reports a study of how students may connect the limiting process inherent in the derivative to the limit of the difference quotient (LDQ) when solving problems. The data was collected mainly through task-based interviews with five eleventh grade students. It was found that the students used various kinds of limiting processes and connected them in different ways to LDQ. Some of them changed between these two representations, and some students explained one with the other. The two kinds of connections were, respectively, named as associative and reflective connections. One of the students, who made the associative connection, used LDQ skillfully.
