Governing Survival Probability to Distill Quantum States
2005
A quantum system interacting with a repeatedly measured one undergoes a nonunitary time evolution pushing it into some specific subspaces. We deeply investigate the origin of the relevant selection rule, bringing to the light its connection with the survival probability related with the two-system interaction. The possibility of inducing an effective dynamics in the distilled subspace just during the distillation process is demonstrated.
Lepton flavor violation in the Higgs sector and the role of hadronic tau-lepton decays
2013
It has been pointed out recently that current low-energy constraints still allow for sizable flavor-changing decay rates of the 125 GeV boson into leptons, h -> tau ell (ell= e, mu). In this work we discuss the role of hadronic tau-lepton decays in probing lepton flavor violating couplings in the Higgs sector. At low energy, the effective Higgs coupling to gluons induced by heavy quarks contributes to hadronic tau decays, establishing a direct connection with the relevant process at the LHC, pp (gg)-> h -> tau ell. Semileptonic transitions like tau -> ell pi pi are sensitive to flavor-changing scalar couplings while decays such as tau -> ell eta(') probe pseudoscalar coupling…
The two-loop soft function for heavy quark pair production at future linear colliders
2014
We report on the calculation of the threshold soft function for heavy quark pair production in e+ e- annihilation at two-loop order. Our main result is a generalization of the familiar Drell-Yan threshold soft function to the case of non-zero primary quark mass. We set up a framework based on the method of differential equations which allows for the straightforward calculation of the bare soft function to arbitrarily high orders in the dimensional regularization parameter. Remarkably, we find that we can obtain the bare two-loop Drell-Yan soft function from the heavy quark soft function to the order in epsilon required for a two-loop calculation by making simple replacements. We expect that…

Precipitation pattern in the Baltic countries under the influence of large-scale atmospheric circulation and local landscape factors
2010
The main objectives of the study are to analyse the mean precipitation pattern in the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and the influence of local landscape factors on it, to derive a regionalization, i.e. select regions having coherent fluctuations in precipitation, and to analyse relationships between precipitation and characteristics of the large-scale atmospheric circulation. Monthly precipitation data from 123 stations in the Baltic countries from 1966 to 2005 are analysed in relation to 52 landscape variables and 13 circulation variables. The landscape variables characterize landscape around the meteorological stations: land cover, land surface elevation, distance from the…
TECHNOFERENCE, CONFLICTS, SATISFACTION WITH COUPLE’S RELATIONSHIPS AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE CONNECTION
2018
The purpose of the study Tehnoference, conflict, satisfaction with couple’ s relationships and emotional intelligence connection is to find out is there a relationship to technology and the frequency of conflicts in couple relationships, satisfaction with relationships and emotional intelligence. Main questions of the study: 1.Is there a connection to the technoference and the frequency of conflicts in the relationship? 2.Is the frequency of conflicts in a relationship related to satisfaction with relationships? 3.Is there a relationship to an emotional intelligence with a technofrence? 4.Is there a relationship between emotional intelligence and satisfaction with relationships?
The Revision Procedures of the Treaty
2011
A review of the diverse reforms of constituent Treaties of the European Communities shows that the revision procedures have not occupied an outstanding place in the design of the constitutional structure of the European Union (EU). That is especially true if we consider two terms in connection: revision (of the Treaties) and ratification (by the States Parties).
Markovian Connection, Curvature and Weitzenböck Formula on Riemannian Path Spaces
2001
Abstract We shall consider on a Riemannian path space P m o ( M ) the Cruzeiro–Malliavin's Markovian connection. The Laplace operator will be defined as the divergence of the gradient. We shall compute explicitly the associated curvature tensor. A Weitzenbock formula will be established. To this end, we shall introduce an “inner product” between the tangent processes and simple vector fields.
Accurate reliability and availability models for direct interconnection networks
2001
Fault tolerance in multicomputer interconnection networks has been traditionally studied by determining the worst possible combination of faulty components that causes its failure and then assuming that this will occur. But, the probability of the worst possible combination is usually low, and the routing algorithm may be able to find a route between source and destination nodes. The network dependability parameters computed according to this approach will be underestimated. In this paper we propose a methodology for accurately evaluating interconnection network dependability. In addition, we apply it to obtain an accurate estimation of the reliability and availability parameters in a 2-D m…
Broadband Internet Access via Multi-Hop Wireless Mesh Networks: Design, Protocol and Experiments
2010
Published version of an article from the journal: Wireless Personal Communications. The original publication is available at Spingerlink. http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11277-009-9907-9 While bandwidth for Internet access in urban areas is steadily increasing in recent years, many rural areas are still suffering from the effect of the digital divide. This paper presents a broadband Internet access paradigm developed in the context of the ADHOCSYS project, which was financed by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Program Information and Society Technologies, within the strategic objective of Broadband for All. Aiming at providing reliable Internet access in rural and mountainous regi…
