A Dynamic Electrical Scheme for the optimal reconfiguration of PV modules under non-homogeneous solar irradiation
2012
This paper presents a strategy for the maximization of the output power of photovoltaic (PV) systems under non homogeneous solar irradiation by means of automatic reconfiguration of the PV arrays layout. The innovation of the proposed approach is the employment of a simple Dynamic Electrical Scheme (DES), allowing a large number of possible modules interconnection, to be installed between the PV generator and the inverter. The models of the PV generator and of the DES have been realized and simulated with Simulink (Dynamic System Simulation for MATLAB). The attained experimental results appear to be quite interesting in terms of the attainable benefit in power and thus energy terms. The lim…
Endeavors to Make Global Connections : Latin American Contacts and Strategies with Mediterranean Non-Alignment in the Early Cold War
2015
This article explores linkages between Yugoslavia’s influence and the roots of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Mediterranean with Latin America as a region through which the Soviet Union sought to challenge the independence of Yugoslavia and the Movement. It answers directly the question: To what extent did the foundation of the coalition of non-aligned states in 1961 in Belgrade have an impact on relations between Yugoslavia and some Latin American states? The sources used for this article consist principally of primary sources from the Foreign Policy Archive of the Russian Federation and the Archive of the Foreign Ministry of Yugoslavia. peerReviewed
Thermal Energy Density Driven Magnetic Reconnection
Magnetic reconnection is usually associated with conversion of magnetic energy into particle acceleration or thermal energy. However, a specific reconnection process driven by plasma pressure gradients was identified in Ref.[1] with a consistent theory of (non-ideal) MHD m0=1 modes in well confined plasmas. This process, based on an Ohm's law contribution to the electron balance equations, remains the basis for the explanation of the observed sawtooth oscillations of the central plasma pressure and for the inferred magnetic field structures due to fishbone oscillations associated with injected high energy particle populations. A novel process [2] expected to have a wide range of application…
Non-Thermal Fusion Burning Plasma Regimes
The Ignitor project is aimed at approaching ignition conditions in Deuterium-Tritium plasmas in order to investigate the issues related to the kind of characteristics of these plasmas, following the line of compact high field opened with the Alcator and Frascati Torus programs, which were capable of producing high density plasma regimes with record confinement properties combined with high degrees of plasma purity. We present a theoretical model describing the emergence of tridimensional structures in magnetically confined plasmas which can significantly change the conditions under which meaningful fusion burn conditions can be reached. These structures can be said to consist of "captive ba…
Cyclical generation of reconnected magnetic fields by electron pressure gra-dients
2021
The theoretical basis for the cyclical generation of macroscopic reconnected magnetic fields in low collisionality plasma regimes is formulated. The relevant process is sustained by the “thermal” energy of the electron population. In particular, an oscillatory mode propagating along and across a confining magnetic field is identified that involves the magnetic reconnection region where the ratio of the longitudinal to transverse electron thermal conductivity is relatively large. A periodic exchange of reconnected magnetic field conductivity energy with electron thermal energy is sustained within a region that remains significant even when the magnetic field configuration from which the mode …

In vitro evaluation of the influence of bone cortical thickness on the primary stability of conventional- and short-sized implants
2022
Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-28T19:50:57Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2022-01-01 Background: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of the cortical thickness on the primary stability of short and conventional-sized implants with two types of prosthetic connection. Material and Methods: Seventy-two implants were used. These implants were placed in polyurethane blocks that simulated low-density bone tissue (type IV bone), with two bone cortical heights (type I bone): 1mm and 3mm. The implants were divided into 6 groups with 12 implants each according to the type of prosthetic connections (external-hexagon -EH and morse taper- MT) and implant s…
The Trap of Proximity Violence. Research and Insights into Male Dominance and Female Resistance
2020
This book aims at shifting the emphasis from a general vision of gender-based violence to a more opaque, yet equally destructive one, that related to "proximity violence". The investigative tension of this book aims at bringing to light the crevasses where violence lurks ready to return in disguise as well as the lairs where it hides. Like a whirlwind, violence appears in all its destructive might and disappears. Precisely because violence is of a proxemic kind it is hard to position with respect to those who wish to objectify it. Its screens are many and the causes that feed it are endowed with a good dose of relational and lexical ambiguity. Because it is profoundly unjust, unfair, wrong,…
Connections between microhabitat factors and dimensions of brown trout (Salmo trutta) redds
2017
This study is part of a process of habitat restoration and management of Finnish and Swedish rivers. This study was conducted to analyse detailed and generalised data regarding microhabitat factors and dimensions of spawning redd of brown trout (salmo trutta). The objectives of this study were to analyse connections between redd dimensions, connections between redd length and microhabitat factors and to analyse the variability of redd length and microhabitat factors among catchments in order to understand spawning habitat selectivity of brown trout (salmo trutta). The study shows that the redd dimensions are positively and strongly correlated. Redd length is weakly correlated to microhabita…
Efficacy of “Family Connections”, a program for relatives of people with borderline personality disorder, in the Spanish population: study protocol f…
2020
Abstract Background Patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) experience significant affect regulation difficulties that cause serious consequences in their work, emotional, and social environments. This dysfunctional pattern also produces great suffering and a heavy burden on their relatives. Fortunately, some studies show that treatment of relatives of people with BPD begins to be important in the patients’ recovery and in improving family dynamics. One of the treatments that has obtained the most empirical support is Family connections (FC). This 12-session program is an adaptation of different Dialectical Behavior Therapy strategies. To test the efficacy of FC, five uncontroll…
