Sol–gel material as a support of organometallic catalyst for ethylene polymerization

Abstract The sol–gel procedure was applied to obtain powdery materials with different structures and morphology. It was possible to produce almost non-porous silica powder, with an extremely low surface area (ca. 4 m 2 /g) and very high uniformity of spherical particles as well as materials with various uniformity of particles and different porosity, most likely associated with increasing pore volume. Dependent on the properties of the carrier, the resulting supported vanadium catalysts (VOCl 3 /AlEt 2 Cl) showed significant differences concerning activity and stability. Abstract The substitution reaction [Pd(bipy)(en)] 2+ + en → [Pd(en) 2 ] 2+ + bipy (where bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine and en = ethylenediamine) has been studied in water and water/AOT/ n -heptane microemulsions at various values of the molar ratio R ( R = [water]/[AOT]) by flow microcalorimetry. From calorimetric data, molar enthalpies of reaction and rate constants were obtained. These quantities indicate that, by increasing R , the reaction becomes less exothermic and its rate constant decreases, trending to the value observed in water. Multiple solutions for quasilinear elliptic problems via critical points in open sublevels and truncation principles

Abstract We study a quasilinear elliptic problem depending on a parameter λ of the form − Δ p u = λ f ( u ) in  Ω , u = 0 on  ∂ Ω . We present a novel variational approach that allows us to obtain multiplicity, regularity and a priori estimate of solutions by assuming certain growth and sign conditions on f prescribed only near zero. Finite state verifiers with constant randomness

We give a new characterization of $\mathsf{NL}$ as the class of languages whose members have certificates that can be verified with small error in polynomial time by finite state machines that use a constant number of random bits, as opposed to its conventional description in terms of deterministic logarithmic-space verifiers. It turns out that allowing two-way interaction with the prover does not change the class of verifiable languages, and that no polynomially bounded amount of randomness is useful for constant-memory computers when used as language recognizers, or public-coin verifiers. Abelian Powers and Repetitions in Sturmian Words

Richomme, Saari and Zamboni (J. Lond. Math. Soc. 83: 79-95, 2011) proved that at every position of a Sturmian word starts an abelian power of exponent $k$ for every $k > 0$. We improve on this result by studying the maximum exponents of abelian powers and abelian repetitions (an abelian repetition is an analogue of a fractional power) in Sturmian words. On Block Sensitivity and Fractional Block Sensitivity

We investigate the relation between the block sensitivity bs(f) and fractional block sensitivity fbs(f) complexity measures of Boolean functions. While it is known that fbs(f) = O(bs(f)2), the best known separation achieves $${\rm{fbs}}\left( f \right) = \left( {{{\left( {3\sqrt 2 } \right)}^{ - 1}} + o\left( 1 \right)} \right){\rm{bs}}{\left( f \right)^{3/2}}$$ . We improve the constant factor and show a family of functions that give fbs(f) = (6−1/2 − o(1)) bs(f)3/2.

ALGORITHMS FOR JUMBLED PATTERN MATCHING IN STRINGS

The Parikh vector p(s) of a string s is defined as the vector of multiplicities of the characters. Parikh vector q occurs in s if s has a substring t with p(t)=q. We present two novel algorithms for searching for a query q in a text s. One solves the decision problem over a binary text in constant time, using a linear size index of the text. The second algorithm, for a general finite alphabet, finds all occurrences of a given Parikh vector q and has sub-linear expected time complexity; we present two variants, which both use a linear size index of the text.
