This chapter tackles the role a Jagiellonian princess, Catherine Jagiellon, has been given in Swedish and Finnish history culture. It illustrates how her figure has entered the historical-cultural memory of both countries, forging and re-forging their national self-image from the end of the sixteenth century through the Cold War, and into contemporary school history teaching. The chapter highlights the differences as well as the similarities of collective memory and history culture associated with Catherine Jagiellon in two Nordic countries with a shared history. International audience; The long term behaviour of cement based materials is strongly dependent on the paste microstructure and also on the internal chemistry. A CEM V blended cement containing pulverised fly ash (PFA) and blastfurnace slag (BFS) has been studied in order to understand hydration processes which influence the paste microstructure. Porous structure and mechanical strength of cement-lime pastes during setting

Abstract The acceleration of a cement paste setting as a result of lime addition may be shown from isothermal calorimetry measurements. We investigated the underlying mechanisms through two techniques that provide information on porous structure (using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) and mechanical properties (elastic modulus measured by rheometry). The correlation of the two sets of results on a cement paste clearly reveals the successive steps of setting, and particularly highlights the so-called induction period. Abstract The mechanical evolution and the structure of the cement paste have been analysed in relation with the chemical evolution of the system. The use of substituting cementitious materials (SCMs) to produce low-carbon concrete is escalating. This contributes to reducing the anthropogenic emission of CO2, and to reduce harmful temperature gradients during cement hydration in massive structures. Mature low-carbon concretes are known to perform well on both strength and durability. However, the maturity process is slow compared to that of standard concrete. Structures made from low-carbon concrete are subject to penetration of agents like chloride at early age, accelerating degrading processes. Effect of superplasticizers on the rheological properties of fly ash suspensions containing activators of the pozzolanic reaction

Rheological studies have been carried out on the effect of a superplasticizer from the sulphonated melamine formaldehyde (SMF) group upon the properties of fly ash suspensions containing a small quantity of mineral admixtures such as cement, lime and gypsum. The superplasticizers' efficiency has appeared to depend greatly on the admixture used. The highest liquefaction degree was found in fly ash suspensions containing both cement and gypsum together and the next it was, when only cement was added.
