Response of the aging eye to first day of modern material contact lens wear

Objectives: To investigate the ocular surface of an aged population wearing a daily disposable contact lens over their first day of wear. Methods: Forty eyes from forty presbyopic subjects were fitted a daily CL (Delefilcon A). Tear osmolarity, tear meniscus area (TMA) and ocular surface aberrations (total higher order root means square (RMS)) were assessed at baseline (t0), at 20 minutes (t1) and after 8 hours (t2) of wear. Fluorescein corneal and conjunctival staining and tear break up time (TBUT) were performed at t0 and t2. To assess the effect of different disposable soft contact lenses upon corneal thickness, and upon anterior and posterior corneal curvatures using a dual-Scheimpflug imaging based device.Twenty-eight young, healthy subjects wore four different types of daily disposable soft contact lenses on four different days: Dailies Total1, Proclear 1 Day, Clariti 1-Day and 1-Day Acuvue Moist. The lenses had different material and water content. Gaze direction is an important cue that regulates social interactions and facilitates joint attention. Although humans are very accurate in determining gaze directions in general, they have a surprisingly liberal criterion for the presence of mutual gaze. Using an established psychophysical task that required observers to adjust the eyes of a virtual head to the margins of the area of mutual gaze, we examined whether the resulting cone of gaze is altered in people with social phobia. Purpose: To assess the validity and repeatability of objective compared to subjective contact lens fit analysis. Methods: Thirty-five subjects (aged 22.0. ±. 3.0 years) wore two different soft contact lens designs. Four lens fit variables: centration, horizontal lag, post-blink movement in up-gaze and push-up recovery speed were assessed subjectively (four observers) and objectively from slit-lamp biomicroscopy captured images and video. The analysis was repeated a week later. In this paper, we develop the theory of ontologization: Social representations that prevent members of minority and majority groups who are living in contact with each other to mingle. The process of ontologization consists of separating some humans from their own species, and anchoring them in another environment, that of an animal, for example. We propose that underlying the famous slogan "equal but separate" is the social representation of interracial mixing as a "counter-nature" phenomenon. Our aim was to evaluate induced changes in pupil and accommodative response for different accommodative stimuli with three different multifocal contact lenses (CLs). Accommodative and pupil responses with three aspheric multifocal CLs of simultaneous focus center near (PureVision Low Add, PureVision High Add and Focus Progressives) for two accommodative stimuli of -2.5 and -4.00 D were recorded in 10 young subjects.
