The preparation, IR spectrum and structure of the Di-μ3-hydroxo-μ-sulphatotetrakis-μ-(isonicotinato-N-oxide)tetraaqua-tetracopper(II)

1982

Abstract A very unusual new copper(II) complex with isonicotinate N-oxide (N-inicO), Cu4(N-inicO)4SO4(OH)2(H2O)4 has been prepared and its crystal and molecular structure determined from three dimensional X-ray diffraction data. The crystals belong to the monoclinic space group C2. The cell parameters are a = 19.089(8), b = 6.884(3), c = 19.533(12) A, β = 140.9(3)°, dobs = 1.99, dcalc = 2.01 and Z = 2. The structure was refined to a final R-value of 0.062. The monomeric tetranuclear complex resembles a space ship with the sulphate group at its top and pyridine rings as wings. Two copper atoms are very close to each other in the molecule; the Cu1Cu1′ distance is 2.885 A. The coordination ar…

2010

Abstract The alkoxo-bridged dinuclear copper(II) complexes [Cu2(ap)2(NO2)2] (1), [Cu2(ap)2(C6H5COO)2] (2) and [Cu2(ap)2μ-1,3-C6H4(COO)2(dmso)2]·dmso (3) (ap = 3-aminopropanolato and dmso = dimethyl sulfoxide) have been synthesized via self-assembly from copper(II) perchlorate, 3-aminopropanol as main chelating ligand and nitrite and isophthalate anions as spacers and benzoate anion as auxiliary ligand. Complexes 1 and 3 crystallize as 2D and 1D coordination polymers, respectively, and their structures consist of dinuclear [Cu2(ap)2]2+ units connected with nitrite and isophthalate ligands. The adjacent dinuclear units of 2 and 1D polymers of 3 are further connected by hydrogen bonds resultin…

[(1,4,8,11-Tetraazacyclotetradeca-1,4,8,11-tetrayl)tetraacetamide-kappa6N1,N4,N8,N11,O1,O8]copper(II) sulfate 4.5-hydrate.

2002

The crystal structure of the title copper(II) complex, [Cu(C(18)H(36)N(8)O(4))]SO(4).4.5H(2)O, formed with the tetraamide cyclam derivative 2-(4,8,11-triscarbamoylmethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradec-1-yl)acetamide (TETAM), is described. The macrocycle lies on an inversion centre occupied by the hexacoordinated Cu atom. The four macrocyclic tertiary amines form the equatorial plane of an axially Jahn-Teller elongated octahedron. Two O atoms belonging to two diagonally opposite amide groups occupy the apical positions, giving rise to a trans-III stereochemistry, while both the remaining pendant side arms extend outwards from the macrocyclic cavity and are engaged in hydrogen bonds with sulf…

Synthesis, structure and magnetic properties of Mn(II) and Cu(II) complexes with the dicyano-acetic acid methyl ester anion

2001

The preparation of the sodium salt of dicyano-acetic acid methyl ester (NaCH 3 OC(O)C(CN) 2 ) (NaL) is reported. The structure of this anion is related to the structure of the dicyanamide, whose chelating capability has been used to develop 2D networks. Two new complexes of formula [M(L) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] (M=Mn 2+ ( 1 ) and Cu 2+ ( 2 )) have been synthesized and their crystal structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The coordination geometry of Mn atom in 1 is approximately octahedral, and the Mn atoms are μ 2 -bridged by two pairs of L − resulting in an infinite one-dimensional chain. Two types of hydrogen bonds link the chains within a 3-dimensional infinite lattice. The coo…

Hepta- and tetra-nuclear copper(II) clusters self-assembled by cyano- and azacyano-carbanions

2015

International audience; Two polynuclear copper(II) complexes with hydroxido-bridging ligands and polycyanide units, [Cu{Cu(tn)}6(μ2-OH)2(μ3-OH)4Cl2](tcm)4Cl2·2H2O (1) and [{Cu(bpy)}4(OH)4(dca)2](dca)2·bpy·2H2O (2) (tn = NH2(CH2)3NH2; tcm− = [C(CN)3]−, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridyl, dca− = [N(CN)2]−) have been prepared by one-pot reactions. The structure of 1 consists of a centrosymmetric heptanuclear ion [Cu{Cu(tn)}6(μ2-OH)2(μ3-OH)4Cl2]6+. The tcm− and the halide anions which appear as counter-ions in the formula unit, play an important role in the stabilization of the complex since the hydrogen bonding between nitrogen atoms of the tcm− anion and halide anions, and hydrogen atoms of the terminal wa…

The key role of hydrogen bonding in the nuclearity of three copper(II) complexes with hydrazone-derived ligands and nitrogen donor heterocycles

2011

International audience; Three new Cu(II) complexes of formula [Cu(L1)(pyz)(CH3OH)]ClO4 (1), [Cu(L1)(4,4′-bpy)(ClO4)]·0.5H2O (2) and [{Cu(L2)(ClO4)}2(μ-4,4′-bpy)] (3) have been synthesised by using pyrazine (pyz) and 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) and tridentate O,N,O-donor hydrazone ligands, L1H and L2H, obtained by the condensation of 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,4-pentanedione with salicyloylhydrazide and benzhydrazide, respectively. The ligands and their complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR, and UV–Vis spectroscopies. Single crystal X-ray structure analysis evidences the metal ion in a slightly deformed square pyramidal geometry in all the complexes. However complexes 1 and 2 …

Protonated malonate: the influence of the hydrogen bonds on the magnetic behaviour

2004

One hydrogen malonato-bridged complex of formula [Cu(Hmal)2] (1) and two polymorphous malonato-bridged complexes of formula [Cu(H2O)(H2mal)(mal)] (2 and 3), in which the three species of the malonate (H2mal, Hmal−, and mal2−) are present, were synthesised and characterized by X-ray diffraction [H2mal = malonic acid]. Their structures consist of corrugated malonate layers of [Cu(Hmal)2] (1) and [Cu(H2O)(H2mal)(mal)] (2 and 3) units bridged by carboxylate–malonate groups. The layers are linked through hydrogen bonds leading to a three-dimensional network. Variable-temperature (1.9–290 K) magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate the occurrence of weak ferromagnetic interactions between th…

Vibrational Properties of CuO and Cu4O3 from First-Principles Calculations, and Raman and Infrared Spectroscopy

2012

International audience; A combined experimental and theoretical study is reported on the vibrational properties of tenorite CuO and paramelaconite Cu4O3. The optically active modes have been measured by Raman scattering and infrared absorption spectroscopy. First-principles calculations have been carried out with the LDA+U approach to account for strong electron correlation in the copper oxides. The vibrational properties have been computed ab initio using the so-called direct method. Excellent agreement is found between the measured Raman and infrared peak positions and the calculated phonon frequencies at the Brillouin zone center, which allows the assignment of all prominent peaks of the…

A Highly Luminescent Nitrogen-Doped Nanographene as an Acid- and Metal-Sensitive Fluorophore for Optical Imaging.

2021

Dibenzo[hi,st]ovalene (DBOV) has excellent photophysical properties, including strong fluorescence and high ambient stability. Moreover, the optical blinking properties of DBOV have enabled optical super-resolution single-molecule localization microscopy with an imaging resolution beyond the diffraction limit. Various organic and inorganic fluorescent probes have been developed for super-resolution imaging, but those sensitive to pH and/or metal ions have remained elusive. Here, we report a diaza-derivative of DBOV (N-DBOV), synthesized in eight steps with a total yield of 15%. Nitrogen (N)-bearing zigzag edges were formed through oxidative cyclization of amino groups in the last step. UV-v…
