catena-Poly[bis[(eta2-1-allyl-3-aminopyridinium)copper(I)]-di-mu-chloro-copper(I)-di-mu-chloro-copper(I)-di-mu-chloro].
2004
Crystals of the title pi-complex, [Cu4Cl6(C8H11N2)2]n, were obtained by means of alternating-current electrochemical synthesis. The structure consists of infinite copper-chlorine chains to which 1-allyl-3-aminopyridinium moieties are attached via a eta2 Cu-(C=C) interaction. The two independent Cu atoms have distinct coordination environments. One is three-coordinate, surrounded by two chloro ligands and the olefinic bond, whereas the second copper center is surrounded by a tetrahedral arrangement of four Cl atoms. The lower basicity of 3-aminopyridine as compared with 2- and 4-aminopyridine lowers the capacity of the organic ligand for donating to N-H...Cl hydrogen bonds and results in the…
Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of the first single azido-bridged copper(II) chain [Cu(bpym)(N3)2]n (bpym = 2,2′-bipyrimidine)
1998
Abstract Single crystals of the copper(II) chain of formula [Cu(bpym) (N32]n (bpym = 2,2′-bipyrimidine) were prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction methods. The structure consists of neutral chains of copper (II) ions bridged by a single azide group exhibiting the asymmetric end-to-end coordination mode. A terminally bound azide ligand and a didentate bpym group complete the square pyramidal geometry of the metal atom. The intrachain copper-copper separation is 5.063(1)A. The magnetic behaviour was investigated in the temperature range 2.0–290 K. The susceptibility curve exhibits a maximum at .9 K showing the occurrence of a weak intrachain antiferromagnetic coupling. Analysis of t…

2015
Two dinuclear copper(II) complexes Li(H2O)(3)(CH3OH)](4)Cu2Br4]Cu-2(cpdp)(mu-O2CCH3)](4)(OH)(2) (1), Cu (H2O)(4)]Cu-2(cpdp)(mu-O2CC6H5)](2)Cl-2 center dot 5H(2)O (2), and a dinuclear zinc(II) complex Zn-2(cpdp)(mu-O2CCH3)] (3) have been synthesized using pyridine and benzoate functionality based new symmetrical dinucleating ligand, N, N'-Bis2-carboxybenzomethyl]-N, N'-Bis2-pyridylmethyl]-1,3-diaminopropan-2-ol (H(3)cpdp). Complexes 1, 2 and 3 have been synthesized by carrying out reaction of the ligand H3cpdp with stoichiometric amounts of Cu-2(O2CCH3)(4)(H2O)(2)], CuCl2 center dot 2H(2)O/C6H5COONa, and Zn(CH3COO)(2)center dot 2H(2)O, respectively, in methanol in the presence of NaOH at amb…
A three-dimensional copper(ii) 12-metallacrown-4 complex with malonomonohydroxamic acid (H3mmh) as a ligand
2011
Slow diffusion of an ethanolic solution of copper(ii) into an aqueous solution of partially deprotonated malonodihydroxamic acid (H4mdh) affords the pentanuclear complex of formula {[K(H2O) 2]2[Cu5(mmh)4]}n (1) (H3mmh = malonomonohydroxamic acid) which is formed by 12-MC-4 metallacrown units with the fifth copper(ii) ion being placed at the center of the square metallacrown unit. The dianionic pentacopper(ii) planar entity interacts with diaquapotassium(i) counterions through the carboxylate-oxygen atoms resulting in a neutral three-dimensional structure. Magnetic susceptibility measurements in the temperature range 1.9-300 K for 1 show the occurrence of relatively strong antiferromagnetic …
Bis(μ-alkoxo) bridged dinuclear CuII2 and ZnII2 complexes of an isoindol functionality based new ligand: Synthesis, structure, spectral characterizat…
2014
Abstract Two new dinuclear copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of an isoindol functionality based new dinucleating ligand, H3hdpa (H3hdpa = 2-({[2-hydoxyethyl]-[2-hydroxy-3-(1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-propyl]-amino}-methyl)-benzoic acid) have been synthesized and characterized. In methanol, the reaction of stoichiometric amounts of Cu(OAc)2·H2O and the ligand H3hdpa in the presence of NaOH at ambient temperature afforded a new dinuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu2(Hhdpa)2]·2CH3OH·6H2O (1). Similarly, in methanol, the reaction of stoichiometric amounts of Zn(OAc)2·2H2O and H3hdpa in the presence of NaOH yielded a new dinuclear zinc(II) complex, Na4[Zn2(hdpa)2](OAc)2 (2). Characterization of…
Effect of chelate ring expansion on Jahn-Teller distortion and Jahn-Teller dynamics in copper(II) complexes.
2012
The expanded ligand N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-dipyridin-2-yl-pyridin-2,6-diamine (ddpd) coordinates to copper(II) ions in a meridional fashion giving the dicationic complex mer-[Cu(ddpd)(2)](BF(4))(2) (1). In the solid state at temperatures below 100 K the cations of 1 localize in Jahn-Teller elongated CuN(6) polyhedra with the longest Cu-N bond pointing in the molecular x or y directions while the z axis is constrained by the tridentate ddpd ligand. The elongated polyhedra are ordered in an antiferrodistortive way giving an idealized zincblende structure. At higher temperature dynamically averaged (fluxional) polyhedra in the molecular x/y directions are observed by multifrequency variable temper…

The reaction of Kpymca (pymca = pyrimidine-2-carboxylato anion) with MX2·6H2O and tmda (N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine) in 1 : 3 : 3 molar ratio, using a MeOH/water mixture (3 : 1) as solvent, afforded the hexanuclear complexes [M6(µ-pymca)6(tmda)6]X6·4H2O (M = NiII, X = ClO4−1, BF4−2; M = CoII, X = ClO4−3). The reaction of pymca with either Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O or Cu(BF4)2·6H2O did not lead to any definite product. However, in the presence of strong coordinating chloride anions the linear tetranuclear complex [Cu4(µ-pymca)3Cl(H2O)](ClO4)4·4.5H2O 4 could be obtained. The structures of 1–3 are very similar and consist of wheel-shaped hexanuclear [M6(µ-pymca)6(tmda)6]6+ cations, with pseudo-D…
Equilibrium and kinetics studies on bibrachial lariat aza-crown/Cu(II) systems reveal different behavior associated with small changes in the structu…
2014
Abstract The high-yield synthesis of a new bibrachial lariat azacrown constituted by two tris(2-aminoethyl)amine (tren) units functionalized in one of its arms with a 4-methylquinoline group linked by dimethylene pyridine spacers (L2) is reported for the first time. The speciation studies show formation of mono- and binuclear Cu2+ complexes of similar stability. Comparisons are established with the complexes formed by the precursor tren-quinoline derivative (L4) and with the previously reported ligands containing naphthalene instead of quinoline as the fluorophore (L1, L3). The kinetics of formation and decomposition of Cu2+ complexes with L1 and L2 has been studied. For L1, the acid-promot…
A two-dimensional oxamate- and oxalate-bridged Cu(II)Mn(II) motif: crystal structure and magnetic properties of (Bu4N)2[Mn2{Cu(opba)}2ox].
2013
A new compound of formula (Bu4N)2[Mn2{Cu(opba)}2ox] (1) [Bu4N(+) = tetra-n-butylammonium cation, H4opba = 1,2-phenylenebis(oxamic acid), and H2ox = oxalic acid] has been synthesized and magneto-structurally investigated. The reaction of manganese(II) acetate, [Cu(opba)](2-), and ox(2-) in dimethyl sulfoxide yielded single crystals of 1. The structure of 1 consists of heterobimetallic oxamato-bridged Cu(II)Mn(II) chains which are connected through bis-bidentate oxalate coordinated to the manganese(II) ions to afford anionic heterobimetallic layers of 6(3)-hcb net topology. The layers are interleaved by n-Bu4N(+) counterions. Each copper(II) ion in 1 is four-coordinate in a square planar envi…

2010
Abstract A dinuclear copper(II) complex with a N-substituted sulfonamide as ligand has been investigated. The new N-(pyridin-2-yl)biphenyl-4-sulfonamide ligand has been prepared and structurally characterized. The copper(II) complex has been synthesized and its crystal structure, magnetic properties and EPR spectra were studied in detail. The metal centers are bridged by four nonlinear triatomic NCN groups. The coordination geometry of the copper(II) ions in the dinuclear entity is distorted square planar with two N-pyridyl and two N-sulfonamido atoms. Magnetic susceptibility data show a moderate antiferromagnetic coupling, with −2 J = 284 cm−1. The EPR spectrum of the polycrystalline sampl…
