Rules of Engagement: Family Rules on Young Children’s Access to and Use of Technologies
2018
This chapter reports on a study conducted in seven countries in which young children’s (aged under 8) digital practices in the home were examined. The study explored family practices with regard to access to and use of technologies, tracing the ways in which families managed risks and opportunities. Seventy families participated in the study, and interviews were undertaken with both parents and children, separately and together, in order to address the research aims. This chapter focuses on the data relating to parental mediation of young children’s digital practices. Findings indicate that parents used a narrow range of strategies in comparison to parents of older children, primarily becau…
Young women’s contradictory expectations and their perceived capabilities for future work-family reconciliation in Finland
2022
This paper explores young women’s expectations on future work-family reconciliation in Finland, a Nordic country well-known for the promotion of gender equality. Utilising Sen’s capabilities approach, we content-analysed thirty individual interviews to identify differences in women’s expectations and their perceived capabilities in future work and care. The results showed that irrespective of their labour market status and educational attainment, the women’s expectations were contradictory, reflecting a current Finnish gender culture that embraces both the ideal of shared parenthood and the primacy of maternal care. Between-group differences were also found. The employed women perceived the…
Staying inside : social withdrawal of the young, Finnish ‘Hikikomori’
2016
This article explores socially withdrawn young Finnish people on an Internet forum who identify with the Japanese hikikomori phenomenon. We aim to overcome the dualism between sociology and psychology found in earlier research by referring to Pierre Bourdieu, who provides insights into how individual choices are constructed in accordance with wider social settings. We focus on the individual level and everyday choices, but we suggest that psychological factors (anxiety, depression) can be seen as properties of social relations rather than as individual states of mind, as young adults have unequal access to valued resources. We scrutinise young people’s specific reasoning related to the soci…
Narratives and Counter-Narratives about Radicalization: Experiences of Moderation of an Online Communication Campaign
2021
This paper presents the results of a cyber-ethnographic study. The research analyzes the dynamics that make, calm and increase the radicalization narratives. This study is part of the Oltre project (ISF - DG Migration and Home Affairs, EU) which directly involved 42 Italian and second generation youths in the dissemination and moderation of an online communication campaign in order to prevent radicalized behaviors. This paper illustrates how the young “moderators” interacted each other, highlighting how counter-narratives can represent useful tools for deconstructing "complex" issues such as radicalization. Furthermore, the paper shows (using social network analysis) how on the social media…

2018
Triggering sustainability communication in a B2B context: combining action research and sensemaking
2021
PurposeThe paper explores processes associated with the adoption of corporate sustainability communication in a B2B context. Glosa do postanowienia Sądu Najwyższego z dnia 2 kwietnia 2015 r., IV KK 8/15
2016
W glosie autor akceptuje trafność tezy, iż kasacja wnoszona przez strony może dotyczyć tylko orzeczenia sądu odwoławczego, a nie orzeczenia sądu pierwszej instancji. To w konsekwencji oznacza, iż można podnieść w niej, wobec orzeczenia sądu ad quem, zarzuty obrazy art. 439 k.p.k. lub innego rażącego naruszenia prawa (art. 523 § 1 k.p.k.), jeżeli mogło ono mieć istotny wpływ na treść orzeczenia. Autor polemizuje natomiast ze stanowiskiem Sądu Najwyższego, wyrażonym w uzasadnieniu wyroku z dnia 9 kwietnia 2015 r., V KK 360/14, iż sformułowany w kasacji zarzut obrazy art. 424 § 1 i 2 k.p.k. w zw. z art. 457 § 3 k.p.k. i art. 6 k.p.k. mógł spowodować uchylenie wyroków sądów ad quem i a quo, skor…
Bezpieczeństwo socjalne jako element polityki społecznej samorządu terytorialnego w Niemczech
2018
