2019
Aims The aim of this study was to determine whether the Joint European Societies guidelines on secondary cardiovascular prevention are followed in everyday practice. Design A cross-sectional ESC-EORP survey (EUROASPIRE V) at 131 centres in 81 regions in 27 countries. Methods Patients (<80 years old) with verified coronary artery events or interventions were interviewed and examined ≥6 months later. Results A total of 8261 patients (females 26%) were interviewed. Nineteen per cent smoked and 55% of them were persistent smokers, 38% were obese (body mass index ≥30 kg/m2), 59% were centrally obese (waist circumference: men ≥102 cm; women ≥88 cm) while 66% were physically active <30 min 5…
RAVITA Technology : new innovation for combined phosphorus and nitrogen recovery
2018
Abstract Present phosphorus (P) recovery technologies mainly contain P recovery from sludge liquor or ash. These types of technologies are suitable for large wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) with enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR), digestion and/or incineration. In Finland and other Nordic countries, strict P discharge limits require chemical precipitation, thus EBPR alone is not sufficient. Ammonium recovery from wastewater, on the other hand, is not so often discussed. However, recovery from WWTP reject waters would decrease the energy demand of ammonium synthesis by Haber-Bosh technology and the energy demand of the WWTP's biological process. Patterns of reception in Denmark, Finland, and Sweden : In search of interpretive communities
2016
This paper focuses on the search of interpretative communities across and amongst the Nordics. First the idea of shared ‘Nordic mode of reception’ between the three Nordic countries which participated to the World Hobbit Research project is presented and investigated, after which the focus is shifted towards the examination of the possibility of the ‘country-specific profiles’. Finally it is questioned if any other background variable than nationality could explain the finding which emerge when examining the data at the level of nationalities. peerReviewed
Digital content marketing in B2B contexts: The drivers of engagement and electronic word of mouth communication at international trade shows
2023
International Assessment Surveys of Educational Achievement in Developing Countries
2015
This paper reviews the most known international assessment studies that are conducted in the context of poor countries and highlights the lack of empirical evidence on the degree to which the contents of the tests really match countries' curricula. To illustrate, the paper evaluates the sensitivity of an international testing instrument by comparing the responses of students in two consecutive grades on the same battery of tests. Using propensity score matching to control for student and teacher characteristics, the results show that the tests are not grade sensitive, which raises the question of the validity of many empirical works that are based on similar instruments.
Etats de santé et systèmes de soins dans les pays en développement. La contribution des politiques de santé au développement durable
2004
The aim of this article consists in measuring in which way health policies in developing countries are contributing to sustainable development goals. Firstly, a return on the terminology and the abstract contents of the sustainable development allows us to identify it with the cumulative and circular process, according to which the economic growth generates human development. We put secondly in motto the crucial role of health in the maintenance of this virtuous circle, to appreciate the opportunity of health policies in the way they lead to reinforce links between economic growth and human development.
The dataset for HERIDI - EU documents on heritage, dialogue and diplomacy
2022
The HERIDI project (EU Heritage Diplomacy and the Dynamics of Inter-Heritage Dialogue) opens new horizons in the research of new diplomacy by investigating a gap in current research: the uses of heritage in EU foreign policy and international cultural relations. The project explores these uses as EU heritage diplomacy. HERIDI scrutinizes EU heritage diplomacy simultaneously as it is being developed and implemented by various actors in EU member states and external countries. This data set focuses on the project's Work Package 2 (concept analysis of policy documentation). The data set includes documents authored by EU institutions: the European External Action Service, the European Commissio…
Island Development Model Specialisation: A Panel Data Analysis Comparing Evolutionary Tourism Model, Industrial to Community-Based (2010–2019)
2022
Islands are frequently characterised by an economic structure centred on tourism and the service sector. This specialisation has taken different forms and characterisations concerning the chosen or spontaneously developed model. To understand the development choices and patterns, this article analyses sixteen islands and archipelagos in the European Union over ten years from 2010 to 2019. A panel data analysis was based on critical variables identifying the tourism industry model from those that could represent a proxy of the community-based tourism model. The principal component analysis was adopted to compare the evolutionary trends of these two different ways of choosing the island’s tou…

La suprema giurisdizione nella Sardegna moderna. Travagli della Real Audiencia (1564-1651)
2019
The institution of the Real Audiencia in the kingdom of Sardinia since the 1560s is part of a wider process which saw the rise and development of royal supreme courts of justice in several European countries of the early modern period. In fact, major State formation processes all around Europe required that monarchs increased their control on local authorities and that new increasingly centralised systems of judicial review gained precedence over all particular jurisdictions, feudal as well as municipal. This brought about a dramatic transformation in the field of criminal law enforcement and administration of justice.
