Nonni caregiver e famiglie headed by grandparents

2020

The volume begins with a reflection on the multiple and changing forms that contemporary families have assumed. The new trends in the social sciences emphasize, in fact, an increasingly accentuated gap between the nuclear family, a union between "the social and the legal" and a multitude of new family models, a synthesis of choices and assumptions of responsibility in the perspective of care and of the well-being of the other. There are numerous studies that in the most recent period investigate the transformation of the family, an institution present in all human societies. Relational dialectics in intercultural couples' relationships

2012

The main purpose of this study is to describe and to understand the intercultural couples’ relationships in Finland from the relational-dialectics perspective by Baxter and Montgomery (1996). Following the interpretive research tradition, in this qualitative study, data were collected from 18 heterosexual intercultural couples (36 persons), utilizing the multi-method approach. The multi-method approach in this study includes theme interviews (5 couples), concept map interviews (six couples) and e-mail interviews (seven couples). The data were analyzed following an inductive content analysis approach. The intercultural couples in this study experienced internal and external dialectics, relat…

Małżeństwo sakramentalne a terapia

2017

The number of couples and marriages increases, including the ones with the sacramental bond who seek professional psychological support in the form of therapy. There is a widespread opinion that the arrival of spouses to therapy ends with a recommendation to resolve their unity through divorce. So how far is it right and legitimate to direct sacramental spouses to therapeutic support? How would their use of therapy benefit them from a natural and supernatural perspective? The understanding of the sacrament of marriage is outlined in the search for answers at the beginning of the discussion, then the topics: what conjugal therapy is, and its basic assumptions based on how the therapeutic pro…

The division of domestic work among dual-career and other dual-earner couples in Finland

2015

This study compares the division of domestic work among dual-career and other dual-earner couples. We examine whether gender attitudes, relative resources and working time explain the differences between dual-career and other dual-earner couples. We define dual-career couples as those in which both spouses are professionals and/or managers. The division of housework is important for these couples because of the intense pressures of work. We hypothesise that domestic work is more equally shared among dual-career couples than among other dual-earner couples. The quantitative analyses are based on the Finnish data from the 2010 European Social Survey (N = 493). The qualitative data consist of …

The role and presence of conflicts in romantic Erasmus relationships

2017

The present study assesses the presence and importance of conflicts in intercultural relationships that were created during an Erasmus exchange period abroad. The theoretical background is based upon the concepts of third culture building (TCB) and conflict management styles, both of which were used to explain the various stages of the relationship development. So far the scholarly literature on the subject of Erasmus students is rather scarce and only a few studies focus on intercultural couples’ lived experiences concerning conflicts. This study is driven by the need for more developed and valid information of Erasmus couples that in fact form a rather large number of the Erasmus students…

La psicopandemia nelle relazioni di coppia

2022

The paper analyses couples' feelings and dynamics during Covid-19 pandemic: I feel stuck, in a sort of limbo where essences of life buzz around me, but I can’t access them. Life is at once too overwhelming and not engaging enough. Each task I do requires a search for motivation beyond anything I’ve ever known. I’m tired, burnt out, and not often excited, but also restless, eager to engage, and trying. What’s more, the seemingly unending waves of pandemic panic only further contribute to my inability to feel fully present in my life.

Party autonomy regarding jurisdiction under the property regimes regulations

2021

The main accomplishment of the Property Regimes Regulations lies in their bringing more coherence into the cross-border family law adjudication. In the field of international jurisdiction, they strive to align the competence in couples? patrimony disputes to that in succession and in separation proceedings, or else to align the competence of the courts to the applicable law. These tendencies are clearly visible in the Regulations? provisions on choice of court agreements. Namely, the Regulations allow for such agreements, but severely limit parties? choice and the possible effects of these clauses.
