Complexity analysis of experimental cardiac arrhythmia

2014

International audience; To study the cardiac arrhythmia, an in vitro experimental model and Multielectrodes Array (MEA) are used. This platform serves as an intermediary of the electrical activities of cardiac cells and the signal processing / dynamics analysis. Through it the extracellular potential of cardiac cells is acquired, allowing a real-time monitoring / analyzing. Since MEA has 60 electrodes / channels dispatched in a rectangular region, it allows real-time monitoring and signal acquisition on multiple sites. The in vitro experimental model (cardiomyocytes cultures from new-born rats' heart) is directly prepared on the MEA. This carefully prepared culture has similar parameters as…

L'enseignement des langues vivantes à l'école élémentaire : essai d'évaluation des effets au collège

1997

A survey was carried out during two years with 1500 pupils at the beginning of the secondary school. It consists to assess the results of the pupils in English language : some of them were initiated to English in the Primary school. The results of the research allow to describe some factors which influence pupil's acquisitions in English language and to assess the effects of the "early" initiation : in fact, these seem to be very slight.

Praksisstudienes omfang og organisering i bioingeniørutdanningen

2022

Since 2005, scope and content of the biomedical laboratory scientist education have been defined by national guidelines to ensure equal final competence for all candidates. From 2019, a new regulation on national guidelines was approved. Both new and old guidelines have regulated the learning outcomes and scope of practice in education. In this study, the scope and organization of the practical studies at the various study programs are characterized, in order to investigate differences and similarities and to facilitate that the study programs can learn from each other. Data has been obtained from each study program for the scope and organization of supervised internal practice, external pr…

The covariation between parental and expert evaluations of early language skills

2013

This study investigated the potential interrelationship between parental (maternal) and expert assessments of the expressive and receptive language skills of 12- to 18-month-old children. The language activities of 27 children were monitored by their mothers (MCDI scale: Lyytinen, 2000. Varhaisen kommunikaation ja kielen kehityksen arviointimenetelma. Cultural Background and Second Language Acquisition

1988

Abstract Knubb‐Manninen, G. 1988. Cultural Background and Second Language Acquisition. Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research 32, 93‐100. The article examines – on the basis of a research study carried out in Swedish‐speaking schools in Finland – the significance that cultural conditions, such as gender and social background, have for second language learning. A model with gender and social background serving as the exogenous factors, school learning capacity and language use as the intervening variables, and proficiency in Finnish (second language) as a dependent variable was tested by means of the Lisrel method. The findings indicate that social background influences the learning of…

The limits of subtractive politics: Agamben and Rousseau’s inheritance

2020

The article critically engages with Giorgio Agamben’s reading of Rousseau in order to explore the affinities between the two authors’ subtractive approach to political subjectivation. In The Kingdom and the Glory. Agamben argues that Rousseau’s Social Contract reproduces, in a secularized manner, the providential paradigm of government, whose origins Agamben finds in early Christianity. This paradigm establishes a fictitious articulation between transcendent sovereignty and immanent government, presenting particular acts of government as emanating from general divine laws. We shall demonstrate that Rousseau was neither unaware of the problematic character of this paradigm nor did he venture…

Production of written French skills by first generation immigrants in working age

2013

This paper aims to identify factors explaining the level of proficiency in written French by immigrants in working age, knowing that few research has been conducted in France on this issue. The originality of this paper is the stochastic production frontier model to explain the scores in written French and the productive performance of immigrants (considered as producers of their own skills). The main results show that mother tongue, age at immigration, social life and mother's diploma are elements which influence the effectiveness of this production. They play a crucial role in the ability of immigrants to use effectively their duration of stay in France and their length of education, cons…

Research on Socialization Problems among Hearing-Impaired Children at Special Primary School Establishment

2011

Abstract The article researches the issue of family and the educational institution influence on socialization of children with special needs. Note that hearing plays a very important role in the language learning process, but reading for hearing impaired children is a kind of “compensatory mechanism”. Interrelation of Latvia's state institutions and NGOs with families and schools with children with special needs are researched within the article as well as identified and analyzed the LR legislation, relating to the mentioned social problems. The research analyzes the data obtained from surveys of parents having the hearing impaired child. Facts obtained from the documents on the life and e…
