Figures du sacré

2013

Building and Testing a Comparative Interface on Northwest European Historical Parliamentary Debates : Relative Term Frequency Analysis of British Rep…

2022

Tensions between the people and parliament over representation are a normal feature of representative democracies. In this paper, we demonstrate how digital humanities analysis tools help in answering questions about the timing of debates on popular representation, tensions over its realization, and representatives’ changing perceptions on their parliamentary role. Our long-term approach to the conceptual history of political representation is based on the analysis of digitized parliamentary debates as nexuses of multi-sited political discourse. We combine computer-assisted distant and context-sensitive close reading to consider diachronic trends and synchronic political struggles surroundi…

2011

The territorial base of agriculture is a key to understand the sustainability of this activity, in hybrid territories like peri-urban areas or rural touristic ones. To this aim, the French method of the "agrarian systems" is improved by the concept of "territorial agrarian system": the territory is then a meta-system of the agrarian system that leads to understand the linkage between the individual trajectories of farmers and the global and collective expectations of the territorial stakeholders. This conceptual, methodological and practical approach is applied to the rural touristic area of Balagne, a seaside territory located at the Northwest Corsica. There, as a subject torn between land…

’Civilising’ the Transitional Generation: The Politics of Civic Education in Post-Communist Romania

2019

Abstract The paper examines the introduction of civic education in post-communist Romania as an educational means of civilising in a democratic ethos the children of the transition. Particularly close analytical attention is paid to a) the political context that shaped the decision to introduce civic education, b) the radical changes in both content and end purpose of civics brought about by educational policies adopted for accelerating the country’s efforts of integrating into the Euro-Atlantic structures (NATO and the European Union), and c) the actual consequences that these educational policies betting on civics have had on the civic values expressed by Romanian teenagers. The analysis …

Polisemia di nòmos e l'esordio di Hipp. de genitura

2016

Far from being, as has been said, “the bizarrest beginning of all the Hippocratic writings (...) deserving of therapy”, this paper aims to show that the opening words of the Hippocratic writing “On Generation” (νόμοϲ μὲν πάντα κρατύνει), in itself echoing a famous Pindaric motto, seem to be used first of all in order to evoke a cultural, intellectual and scientific world, in which the nòmos has become one of the most important keywords of the time. From this point of view, the Pindaric quotation seems to be played out on the wide semantic range of nòmos as well as on the ambiguous meaning of the verb κρατύνω, which in this embryological context denote specifically the consolidation and hard…

Demokracja medialna w III RP

2018

W artykule przedstawiono pokrótce podejście Polaków do demokracji. Następnie opisano pojęcie demokracji medialnej i mediatyzację polityki. Końcowa część artykułu została poświęcona przybliżeniu wpływu sondaży oraz opinii publicznej na decyzje wyborcze obywateli.

Matka Maria (Skobcowa) w świecie idei Władimira Sołowiowa

2016

This paper covers the reflections of Mother Maria on Vladimir Solovyov’s keyphilosophical concepts — including Allunity and Panunity, Sophia, Divine Humanity, goodand evil, theocracy, and the Russian Idea — included in Światopogląd Władimira Sołowiowa [Vladimir Solovyov’s Weltanschauung]. It also hints her judgement on the role and legacy ofthe author of A Story of Anti-Christ within the history of philosophy. Skobstova’s convictionof persisting impact of Solovyov’s philosophy is rooted in his task to prevail over the destructive tendency present in European philosophy, which has resulted in the crisis of understanding of the world. Skobtsova analyses and comments upon Solovyov’s thought no…
