Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) are responsible for lending money to people who do not have sufficient collateral to access the formal banking system. These organizations participate in the development of entrepreneurship by funding women's projects. Does persistence in using R&D tax credits help to achieve product innovations?

Despite the generosity of its tax system, Spain is far from EU countries in terms of R&D spending and innovation outcomes. A policy instrument commonly used to foster firms’ R&D investment are tax incentives. The use of this instrument is not generalized in firms spending on R&D, and only a fraction of firms are regular claimants. This paper investigates whether persistence in using tax credits is positively related to product innovations, beyond R&D investments. We consider that firms investing in qualified R&D and using tax credits regularly are likely to be firms aiming at innovating. TV show opening credits can be considered as frames which delimit the borders of a filmic text. They aim at advising and attracting the audience by highlighting specific aspects of the program. In doing that, opening credits as well as other forms of intros activate specific styles of relationship between the instances of production and reception of texts. They can be considered acts of enunciation through which the enunciator establishes its own discourse and gives instructions to the enunciatee about the text. A new indicator for higher education student performance

The debate on academic achievement is a heated issue that involves all the higher education contexts. This paper attempts to provide an indicator that can make the measurement of university student performance easier and that can be easily applied to different systems, making comparisons more fair. The Italian University System is used as a starting point to make several considerations on the current measures and to build up a new performance indicator. Then, a generalization for other marking systems is shown and finally a quantile regression is performed to investigate some determinants of the new performance indicator, also with respect to the current one.

In the Italian University System the problem of student failure and of delaying the degree is causing increasing concern both for universities and for stakeholders. In this paper we compare the teaching performances of the italian universities, and individual cohort data of three Faculties of the University of Palermo, to extract some information useful to policy makers.
Degree course change and student performance: a mixed-effect approach

This paper focuses on students credits earning speed over time and its determinants, dealing with the huge percentage of students who do not take the degree within the legal duration in the Italian University System. A new indicator for the performance of the student career is proposed on real data, concerning the cohort of students enrolled at a Faculty of the University of Palermo (followed for 7 years).
