Coherent and incoherent phonon processes in artificial atoms
2003
Carrier-phonon interaction in semiconductor quantum dots leads to three classes of phenomena: coherent effects (spectrum reconstruction) due to the nearly-dispersionless LO phonons, incoherent effects (transitions) induced by acoustical phonons and dressing phenomena, related to non-adiabatic, sub-picosecond excitation. Polaron spectra, relaxation times and dressing-related decoherence rates are calculated, in accordance with experiment.
Solitons ofq-deformed quantum lattices and the quantum soliton
2001
We use the classical N-soliton solution of a q-deformed lattice, the Maxwell-Bloch (MB) lattice, which we reported recently (Rybin A V, Varzugin G G, Timonen J and Bullough R K Year 2001 J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 34 157) in order, ultimately, to fully comprehend the `quantum soliton'. This object may be the source of a new information technology (Abram I 1999 Quantum solitons Phys. World 21-4). We suggested in Rybin et al 2001 that a natural quantum mechanical matrix element of the q-deformed quantum MB lattice becomes in a suitable limit the classical 1-soliton solution of the classical q-deformed MB lattice explicitly derived by a variant of the Darboux-Backlund method. The classical q-defor…
Search for admixture of scalar top quarks in the tt¯ lepton + jets final state at s=1.96 TeV
2009
A search for pair production of the lightest supersymmetric partner of the top quark is performed in the lepton+jets channel using 0.9 fb-1 of data collected by the D0 experiment. Kinematic differences between scalar top quark pair production and the dominant top quark pair production background are used to separate the two processes. First limits from Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider for the scalar top quark decaying to a chargino and a b quark are obtained for scalar top quark masses of 130-190 GeV and chargino masses of 90-150 GeV.
On Chiral Quantum Superspaces
2011
We give a quantum deformation of the chiral Minkowski superspace in 4 dimensions embedded as the big cell into the chiral conformal superspace. Both deformations are realized as quantum homogeneous superspaces: we deform the ring of regular functions together with a coaction of the corresponding quantum supergroup.
Optimization of soliton transmissions in dispersion-managed fiber links
1998
We propose a simple optimization criterion (including the best launch point position in-between amplifiers) for the design of soliton transmission lines. The present approach is shown to minimize energy scattering from the solitons into the continuum.
Parametric solitons in nonlinear photonic crystals
2007
We present theoretical and experimental investigations on the soliton dynamics associated to multiple second harmonic generation resonances in two-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystals, highlighting a wealth of new possibilities for soliton management in such structures.
Nonlinearity and Disorder in the Statistical Mechanics of Integrable Systems
1992
Attention is drawn to a theory of the statistical mechanics (SM) of the integrable models in 1+1 dimension — a theory of ‘soliton statistical mechanics’ classical and quantum [1–17]. This SM provides a generic example of integrable nonlinearity interacting with disorder. In the generic classical examples, such as the classical SM of the sine-Gordon model, phonons provide disorder in which sit coherent structures — the kink-like solitons. But these solitons are dressed by the disorder, in equilibrium, while the breather-like solitons break up to form the disordered structures which are the phonons in thermal equilibrium. On the other hand quantum solitons, dressed by both the vacuum and fini…
Direct Bound on the Total Decay Width of the Top Quark inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2009
We present the first direct experimental bound on the total decay width of the top quark, Gamma(t), using 955 pb(-1) of the Tevatron's p (p) over bar collisions recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We identify 253 top-antitop pair candidate events. The distribution of reconstructed top quark mass from these events is fitted to templates representing different values of the top quark width. Using a confidence interval based on likelihood-ratio ordering, we extract an upper limit at 95% C.L. of Gamma(t) < 13.1 GeV for an assumed top quark mass of 175 GeV/c(2).
Theoretical overview on top pair production and single top production
2012
In this talk I will give an overview on theoretical aspects of top quark physics. The focus lies on top pair production and single top production.
Two-parameter determinant representation of seventh order rogue wave solutions of the NLS equation
2013
We present a new representation of solutions of focusing nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLS) equation as a quotient of two determinants. We construct families of quasi-rational solutions of the NLS equation depending on two parameters, a and b. We construct, for the first time, analytical expressions of Peregrine breather of order 7 and multi-rogue waves by deformation of parameters. These expressions make possible to understand the behavior of the solutions. In the case of the Peregrine breather of order 7, it is shown for great values of parameters a or b the appearance of the Peregrine breather of order 5. 35Q55; 37K10
