Der Zerfall des 2,4-sec100Nb
1972
The nuclide100Nb was produced by irradiation of enriched100Mo targets with 14 MeV-neutrons, and its decay properties were investigated employing scintillation and semiconductor spectrometers and coincidence techniques. A half-life of 2.4±0.3 sec and aQ β-value of 5.8±0.2 MeV were found. From 27 gamma-rays, 20 transitions, representing 95% of the observed gamma-ray intensity, could be placed in a decay scheme comprising 10 excited states of100Mo.

Objective: Radical prostatectomy (RP) is a frequent treatment for men suffering from localized prostate cancer (PCa). Whilst offering a high chance for cure, it does not come without a significant impact on health-related quality of life. Herein we review the common adverse effects RP may have over the course of time. Methods: A collaborative narrative review was performed with the identification of the principal studies on the topic. The search was executed by a relevant term search on PubMed from 2010 to February 2021.Results: Rates of major complications in patients undergoing RP are generally low. The main adverse effects are erectile dysfunction varying from 11 to 87% and urinary incont…
Clinico-Biomechanical Issues and Dynamic Stabilization When Considering Stem Cell Treatment for Degenerative Disc Disease
2013
After reading the article published in Transplantation (1), scientists are to be congratulatedVespecially with the clinical results as published. Looking for alternatives to avoid fusion is part of function-preserving spine care, as it should be the last option to be undertaken while keeping the debate open (2, 3). Nevertheless, we would like to point out some questions that arise from a clinical point of view from our daily surgical practice. First, several clinical presentations and procedures are compared without taking into account that they are different treatments applied for different disc disease situations (discectomy is performed for disc herniation with radicular symptoms, disc p…
Becton Dickinson Directigen EZ Flu A+B assay in the diagnosis of pandemic influenza A H1N1 2009 virus infection in adult patients
2011
To the editor: The recent emergence and spread of the pandemic influenza A H1N1 2009 virus demands the evaluation of rapid antigen assays for their ability to detect this novel subtype of influenza A virus. Data on the ability of BD Directigen EZ Flu A+B immunochromatographic (IC) assay (Beckton Dickinson and Company, Sparks, MD, USA) to detect the pandemic influenza A virus strain in fresh clinical samples have been recently published. 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 In these studies, the majority of specimens were collected from pediatric patients, and the sensitivities reported ranged from 46·8% to 76·6%. As viral shedding in the upper respiratory tract during influenza virus infection is of greater m…
Differential response of neuronal cells to a fusion protein of ciliary neurotrophic factor/soluble CNTF-receptor and leukemia inhibitory factor
2002
Ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) displays neurotrophic activities on motor neurons and neural cell populations both in vivo and in vitro. On target cells lacking intrinsic expression of specific receptor alpha subunits cytokines of the IL-6 family only act in the presence of their specific agonistic soluble receptors. Here, we report the construction and expression of a CNTF/soluble CNTF-receptor (sCNTF-R) fusion protein (Hyper-CNTF) with enhanced biological activity on cells expressing gp130 and leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIF-R), but not membrane-bound CNTF-R. At the cDNA level, the C-terminus of the extracellular domain of human CNTF-R (amino acids 1-346) was linked via a sing…
Regge phenomenology in π0 and η photoproduction
2017
The $\ensuremath{\gamma}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}N$ and $\ensuremath{\gamma}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\eta}N$ reactions at photon beam energies above 4 GeV are investigated within Regge models. The models include $t$-channel exchanges of vector ($\ensuremath{\rho}$ and $\ensuremath{\omega}$) and axial-vector (${b}_{1}$ and ${h}_{1}$) mesons. Moreover, Regge cuts of $\ensuremath{\rho}\mathbb{P},\phantom{\rule{0.28em}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\rho}{f}_{2},\phantom{\rule{0.28em}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\omega}\mathbb{P}$, and $\ensuremath{\omega}{f}_{2}$ are investigated. A good description of differential cross sections and polarization observables at photon beam energies fr…
Photoelectrochemical study of passive films on stainless steel in neutral solutions
1991
Abstract Passive films formed on AISI 304 stainless steel in neutral solutions are studied using photoelectrochemical technique. Photocurrents were investigated as a function of the wavelength of the incident light, the electrode potential and the time. The results of the measurements together with capacity measurements indicate that the passive film on AISI 304 shows characteristics of a highly doped amorphous or highly disordered n-type semiconductor. The potential dependence of the optical gap values and of the photocurrent transients can be interpreted assuming that the passive film is an iron-chromium oxide solid solution.

Cytoglobin (Cygb) is a vertebrate globin with so far poorly defined function. It is expressed in the fibroblast cell-lineage but has also been found in neurons. Here we provide, using immunohistochemistry, a detailed study on the distribution of Cygb in the mouse brain. While Cygb is a cytoplasmic protein in active cells of the supportive tissue, in neurons it is located in the cytoplasm and the nucleus. We found the expression of Cygb in all brain regions, although only a fraction of the neurons was Cygb-positive. Signals were of different intensity ranging from faint to very intense. Telencephalic neurons in all laminae of the cerebral cortex, in the olfactory bulb (in particular periglom…
Lebermetastasen kolorektaler Karzinome - wie oft kann man operieren?
2007
Recurrent liver metastases of colorectal carcinoma are frequent. The repeat hepatectomy is superior to other therapeutic options. In about 20 % of patients with recurrent liver metastases a complete resection (R 0) is possible. The morbidity of repeat hepatectomy is similar to that of first hepatectomy. The 5-year survival rate after repeat hepatectomy ranges between 30 and 40 %. Often in the follow-up additional operations become necessary for extrahepatic recurrencies. For determination of the optimal therapy an interdisciplinary approach must be chosen.
Electromagnetic behaviour of superconductive amorphous metals
2005
The penetration depth of the magnetic field into an amorphous superconductor is calculated. The ratio of the London penetration depth δL to the electron free path le under zero temperature is above unity for almost all amorphous metals. That is why pure metals, in a superconducting state, change from type I superconductors to type II superconductors during the crystalline–amorphous transition.
