Abstract Let E be a Banach space with the approximation property and let F be a Banach algebra with identity. We study the spectrum of the algebra H b(E, F) of all holomorphic mappings f : E → F that are bounded on the bounded subsets of E.

Cluster values of holomorphic functions of bounded type

We study the cluster value theorem for Hb(X), the Fréchet algebra of holomorphic functions bounded on bounded sets of X. We also describe the (size of) fibers of the spectrum of Hb(X). Our results are rather complete whenever X has an unconditional shrinking basis and for X = ℓ1. Internal inverse limits and retractions

We establish equivalences between compacta that admit a sequence of retractions that converge uniformly to the identity map and compacta that are inverse limits on subcompacta with retractions for bonding maps. We give partial answers to questions of Charatonik and Prajs, and of Krasinkiewicz. Our results are related to and use results from another paper of the authors \cite{mp}.

On approximation of a class of stochastic integrals and interpolation

Given a diffusion Y = (Y_{t})_{t \in [0,T]} we give different equivalent conditions so that a stochastic integral has an L 2-approximation rate of n −η, {\rm \eta \in (0,1/2],} if one approximates by integrals over piece-wise constant integrands where equidistant time nets of cardinality n + 1 are used. In particular, we obtain assertions in terms of smoothness properties of g(Y T ) in the sense of Malliavin calculus. After optimizing over non-equidistant time-nets of cardinality n + 1 in case {\rm \eta > 0} , it turns out that one always obtains a rate of n^{ - 1/2}, which is optimal. The monadic quantifier alternation hierarchy over grids and pictures

The subject of this paper is the expressive power of monadic second-order logic over two-dimensional grids. We give a new, self-contained game-theoretical proof of the nonexpressibility results of Matz and Thomas. As we show, this implies the strictness of the monadic second-order quantifier alternation hierarchy over grids.

Discrete-mathematical approach to formal description of measurement procedure

The discrete-mathematical model of measurement procedure is developed for facilitating the description of measurements in both quantitative and qualitative scales. On the basis of this model the Measurement Problem is formulated. It is shown that the problem can be considered, in the general case, as one of the discrete optimization problems. The suggested approach brings closer the concepts of a computing algorithm and measurement procedure so that it permits the application of similar tools for the analysis and development of both of them.

From the previous chapter we know that there exist many important problems in mechanics in which constitutive laws are expressed by means of nonmonotone, possibly multivalued relations (nonmonotone multivalued stress-strain or reaction-displacement relations,e.g). Fractional Derivatives in Interval Analysis

In this paper, interval fractional derivatives are presented. We consider uncertainty in both the order and the argument of the fractional operator. The approach proposed takes advantage of the property of Fourier and Laplace transforms with respect to the translation operator, in order to first define integral transform of interval functions.
