En este texto presentaremos las principales reformas que en la ciudad de ?ur??sa y su entorno mas inmediato se llevaron a cabo durante las decadas centrales del siglo X. Entendemos que el periodo comprendido entre los anos 940 y 974 supusieron un lapso de relativa estabilidad a ambos lados de la frontera entre al-Andalus y los condados catalanes. El trabajo está dedicado a una nueva pequeña chapa circular de metal con inscripción incisa en árabe. Aporta la lectura y traducción de su texto y sitúa el objeto en un grupo especial dentro de la metalística medieval islámica. Es el quinto ejemplo que se conoce. Eran piezas que iban sujetas a cotas de malla del ejército cordobés con la función de identificarlas para reintegrarlas al arsenal después de que fueran usadas. Esta investigación se centra en un texto árabe pintado sobre un elemento inusual: una balsa de agua para riego en Bédar (Almería). Junto al epígrafe que la data, hay dibujados dos animales cuadrúpedos que quizá representen una escena de caza y una cenefa decorativa; conserva asimismo otros signos gráficos y diseños muy degradados que no ha sido posible descifrar totalmente. Como hasta ahora no se había determinado su cronología, en este estudio he seguido el método habitual en Epigrafía Árabe: dibujar los trazos visibles y restituir después las partes de pintura desaparecida o muy borrada. Palermo in the 10th and the first half of the 11th century was one of the big Mediterranean cities, fully integrated in the dār al-islām and in the area of Fatimid prosperity. This article deals with the role of Palermo in the central Mediterranean, crossing the information coming from the written sources and from the recent archaeological finds. The written sources show that, with the Fatimids, Palermo’s harbour became a built harbour, characterized by imposing defences and fortified structures, which not only had a functional character but were also a representation of power.
