Borges: Libro-Mondo e Spazio-Tempo

2010

Borges: La nueva metafora entre arte y ciencia

2010

Foliar influences on the vegetative development of grapevine

1997

<p style="text-align: justify;">Various defoliation treatments were applied to grapevine shoots during the whole duration of the growth period: full defoliation of every shoot of vine, defoliations retaining a various number of adult leaves to the base of every shoot and defoliations retaining a various number of young leaves to the top. The effects of these treatments allow to identify the major foliar influences on the vegetative development. Total defoliation induced a lesser intemodal elongation. This result is probably due, in part, to a carbohydrates deficiency consecutive to this drastic treatment. The defoliations with variation of the number of young leaves showed that the le…

Gas—liquid chromatographic analyses

1984

Abstract The gas chromatography (GC) of n -alkyl acetates (CH 3 COOR), chloroacetates (CH 2 ClCOOR), dichloroacetates (CHCl 2 COOR) and trichloroacetates (CCl 3 COOR), where the alcohol chain length (R) varied between 1 and 8, and certain of their monochlorinated derivatives, 176 compounds altogether, has been studied on SE-30 and OV-351 glass capillary columns under the same operating conditions. The isomeric monochlorinated esters are eluted in direct order from the 1- chloro to the ω-chloro isomer, the separation of the isomers being complete on OV- 351. On SE-30, however, the peaks of the 6- and 7-chlorooctyl esters are partly overlapped. The separation of the mixtures of odd- and e…

Probing the spectral dynamics of single terrylenediimide molecules in low-temperature solids

1999

Abstract Fluorescence excitation lines of single terrylenediimide (TDI) molecules were recorded in the matrices polyethylene (PE) and hexadecane (HD) in the temperature range between 1.4 and 13 K. From line width distributions at 2.5 K in both matrices it was concluded that the disorder, theoretically modeled by a distribution of two-level systems (TLSs), is about three times stronger in PE. Temperature-dependent measurements of the line shape of single chromophores showed a reversible broadening and shift of the zero-phonon lines. We attributed this behavior to dephasing caused by pseudolocal phonons and to spectral diffusion caused by fluctuating TLSs of the disordered host. Following the…

The influence of absorbed solar radiation by Saharan dust on hurricane genesis

2015

To date, the radiative impact of dust and the Sahar an air layer (SAL) on North Atlantic hurricane activity is not yet known. According to previous studies, dust stabilizes the atmosphere due to absorption of solar radiation but thus shifts convection to regions more conducive for hurricane genesis. Here we analyze differences in hurricane genesis and frequency from ensemble sensitivity simulations with radiatively active and inactive dust in the aerosol-climate model ECHAM6-HAM. We investigate dust burden and other hurricane-related variables and determine their influence on disturbances which develop into hurricanes (developing disturbances, DDs) and those which do not (nondeveloping dist…
