Effects of environmental and spatial variables on lotic ostracod metacommunity structure in the Iberian Peninsula

The heterogeneous distribution of aquatic species in lotic environments has been studied little in terms of metacommunity theory. Previous empirical tests have found significant spatial and environmental effects in pond and lake communities, but this has not yet been clearly established for stream networks. We conducted a multi-season survey of mountain streams in the Iberian Peninsula. Monte Carlo Tests of Nucleation Concepts in the Lattice Gas Model

The conventional theory of homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation in a supersaturated vapor is tested by Monte Carlo simulations of the lattice gas (Ising) model with nearest-neighbor attractive interactions on the simple cubic lattice. The theory considers the nucleation process as a slow (quasi-static) cluster (droplet) growth over a free energy barrier $\Delta F^*$, constructed in terms of a balance of surface and bulk term of a "critical droplet" of radius $R^*$, implying that the rates of droplet growth and shrinking essentially balance each other for droplet radius $R=R^*$. International audience; In this paper, we are concerned with the charging and electrokinetic behavior of colloidal particles exhibiting a high surface charge in the alkaline pH range. For such particles, a theoretical approach has been developed in the framework of the primitive model. The charging and electrokinetic behavior of the particles are determined by the use of a Monte Carlo simulation in a grand canonical ensemble and compared with those obtained through the mean field theory. Modern biological assessment of aquatic systems is often based on the reference condition approach, which requires characterization of biota in undisturbed conditions. For this approach, it is essential to recognize the origins and degree of natural variation in communities. We used data from 55 minimally disturbed Finnish lake basins to investigate the natural variation of profundal macroinvertebrate community composition in relation to environmental factors. Partial canonical correspondence analysis showed that most (68% combined, 39% uniquely) of the total explained compositional variation (29%) was correlated with environmental variables insensitive to human activities, especially lake …
Il delitto di apostasia alla luce del motu proprio "omnium in mentem"

Il lavoro si propone di analizzare le conseguenze dirette e, soprattutto, indirette della riforma del Codice di diritto canonico realizzata col Motu proprio Omnium in mentem. Tale provvedimento normativo,avente ad oggetto la possibilità di separarsi con atto formale dalla Chiesa, rischia, al di là delle intenzioni del legislatore, di avere delle serie ripercussioni sulla configurabilità del delitto di apostasia dalla fede. L'articolo indaga su tutte le possibili implicazioni giuridiche della citata riforma, evidenziando la poca organicità della stessa e il suo impatto sulla struttura codicistica del 1983.
