Pseudo-Bosons, So Far

In the past years several extensions of the canonical commutation relations have been proposed by different people in different contexts and some interesting physics and mathematics have been deduced. Here, we review some recent results on the so-called {\em pseudo-bosons}. They arise from a special deformation of the canonical commutation relation $[a,a^\dagger]=\1$, which is replaced by $[a,b]=\1$, with $b$ not necessarily equal to $a^\dagger$. We start discussing some of their mathematical properties and then we discuss several examples.

Microcanonical Determination of the Interface Tension of Flat and Curved Interfaces from Monte Carlo Simulations

The investigation of phase coexistence in systems with multi-component order parameters in finite systems is discussed, and as a generic example, Monte Carlo simulations of the two-dimensional q-state Potts model (q=30) on LxL square lattices (40<=L<=100) are presented. It is shown that the microcanonical ensemble is well-suited both to find the precise location of the first order phase transition and to obtain an accurate estimate for the interfacial free energy between coexisting ordered and disordered phases. Projective unification in transitive modal logics

We show that a transitive normal modal logic L enjoys projective unification (i.e. each unifiable formula is projective) if and only if L contains K4D1 ( D1 : ( x → y ) ∨ ( y → x ) ). It means, in particular, that K4D1 (and any of its extensions) is almost structurally complete, i.e. the logic is complete with respect to all non-passive admissible rules. We also characterize non-unifiable formulas and provide an explicit form of the basis for all passive rules over K4G + ( x → x )

En este ensayo me propongo esbozar un posible procedimiento para adaptar con fidelidad un texto clásico teniendo como objetivo esencial la trasmisión de los tesoros que encierra, pero con un total respeto no solo a la historia contada, sino a la misma concepción unitaria de la obra. Los propios clásicos hablaban de monere et delectare como fines de la creación literaria; no hay que perderlos de vista: la enseñanza la llevan puesta los propios textos, pero hay que lograr que aflore en ellos la diversión para el lector actual. Utilizaré como ilustración de esa exposición teórica las dificultades que he encontrado en la tarea de llevar a cabo algunas de mis ya numerosas adaptaciones de clásico…

On Pietsch measures for summing operators and dominated polynomials

We relate the injectivity of the canonical map from $C(B_{E'})$ to $L_p(\mu)$, where $\mu$ is a regular Borel probability measure on the closed unit ball $B_{E'}$ of the dual $E'$ of a Banach space $E$ endowed with the weak* topology, to the existence of injective $p$-summing linear operators/$p$-dominated homogeneous polynomials defined on $E$ having $\mu$ as a Pietsch measure. As an application we fill the gap in the proofs of some results of concerning Pietsch-type factorization of dominated polynomials.
